Thanks O-town. and I agree with yesiplayedhockey's comments.
Credit would be added to team Minnesota if there were a formal nomination or independent tryout process held the summer before the brick year. The Blades control the team, and that won't happen.
I'm interested in what this '04 Showdown tournament hosted by YHH turns into this year. I haven't heard how these teams are formed. Without a true tryout process, it will be more BS to feed the same egos. Hopefully they are more original that taking last years brick roster. I have my doubts

I meant the Show not the showdown. Teams like Great Plains, and Midwest, etc.

Do you still think this? I heard a few people, (don't know if they are parents or where they were from, but from the accents I could take a good guess) say they were happy something like this tournament was formed because now they would show Team Southeast (Florida Alliance) that they weren't as good as people said they were. One even said "there is no way they will be able to compete with us now that all our top kids are on one team". Just curious how everyone else felt about this since I've seen statements like these posted here before.

Suitcase, the Southeast team showed very well last weekend. I know the kids well and am curious what the sense was after the week in Bloomington. Was happy to see they fared strong enough to win the US portion.

Best is a little strong and an opinion. Certainly many of the better players, but to say best, especially without a tryout is a little bit of a reach

MWS coach, I'm pretty sure a well documented try out was held.
I think the Southeast boys felt ok for losing. That Ontario Black team is stellar to say the least. I wouldn't hesitate to say the best 04 team in the world. From what I hear the gap between the two teams is closing a little bit and the kids/coaches are figuring out how to play the Ontario team. The best player from SE may be their goalie, from what I saw was the best goalie in the tournament. They are a good team and it makes a person wonder what will happen in the future for these kids and opens up a lot of questions like can this group stay together for the next 4-6 years or through high school for that matter and how many will leave?

The quality at "The Show" was pretty fantastic. From what I saw the worst team in the field could have had a chance to have won the Brick tournament last year that is how well put together these rosters were by all the different areas..

Aside from being a very skilled hockey player, he is a great kid along with a great family. He has an older brother that is an '03 and #7 plays frequently with his brothers team and fits right in.

Cool. I have it on good authority that he'll be playing up with the PW's next season. He should do well.

He should be playing with the PeeWees next year. According to the association who acts like they run your co-op, its position is no move ups except for need.
I hope he gets the move up. He deserves it.

No worries. Both associations have a rule that you only have to play two years at the same level. He already played two years of squirts. He's good to go.

From that stat page, Team Minnesota a non factor. Hard to believe that the state of hockey shows so weak. Have they ever got a taste in the past?

I watched some of the games online. They really do a nice job streaming the games. The boys really played hard. Congrats to them and for not giving up.
Many of the Canadian teams are rock solid. Same with a few from the U.S. Our team is a solid notch below those other teams. Any insight from anyone as to why? I refuse to believe that Minnesota can't be more competitive at this tournament. Was it a down year for talent this year, tryout process, coaching?????

Looks like the Blades team taking a handful of add-ons. Never hear about tryouts. The Brick program team bio says they spent the last 12 months assembling the best. Check out their twitter page... a lot about water parks and hockey moms having a good time.
