After a couple of penalties a few seconds a part, Hermantown dominated possession on the 4-4. Wayzata just missed a breakaway pass when their guy came out the box, but then the Hawks hit Sandalin on the Breakaway when he came out of the box and he was absolutely robbed by Wayzata Goalie.

As I was writing this, a lot of up and down rushes, Wayzata with a breakaway but missed the net. Watkins came down a step ahead of everyone and saved by Schilling of Wayzata

1-0 Hawks. Lindberg with the goal off a nice pass from an end to end rush by Goetz I believe.
The pressure finally broke through.

Wayzata takes a penalty right off the following draw, Hermantown on PP with all the momentum

Wayzata now on a 5-3.

Trojans looked good on 5-4 just now, but Aamodt takes a trip to go 5-3 now.

One block and One big save by Hermantown and 2-3 missed shots by the Trojans on the Powerplay.
Hermantown could not clear zone, and now after powerplay seemed to have lost momentum a bit. Trojans starting to look better after being dominated for 10 minutes.

The score appears to be 3-1 Hermantown after two periods. Shots are 21-18 for the Hawks.

4-3 Hawks. It tooks the refs a while to decide if that last one was a goal.

Stream is back up for me. It was 3-2 when I came back. Hermantown had good pressure, but then after an Icing Wayzata tied the game up right off the draw with a shot from the point that went 5-hole. Appeared the goalie was screened.

Right off the draw, Hermantown comes down shoots, goalie thinks he has it. Ref blows whistle very quick, but he never had it, hermantown pokes it in. Refs discuss and decide to call it a goal. So the score is 4-3 Hermantown.

In writing this, each team had a good chance on rushes.

The commentators are biased, but they have seen more of the game than me, but they say this game has been in favor of Hermantown by a lot.

Scary leg injury by a Trojan, I think #19. Very Physical 3rd, they are letting them play, though.
Play has been stalled by the injury for a few minutes.
4-3 still, about halfway through the 3rd

4 min left shots 30-26 for Wayzata

This period has been in favor of the Trojans. Hermantown has been sloppy in their own zone and just kind of lazy. They are not skating, but rather reaching.
They have been icing whenever the chance. They are the more skilled team I think, but right now they are being outworked

Hermantown with an empty netter by Sandelin to make it 5-3

Congrats to Hermantown! I did not think they could do it, but they did.
Thanks to Wayzata for a great game!

Final 5-3 Hermantown. Did not catch the final shots but Wayzata had around 34 and Hermantown around 28 I would say.

The 3rd was almost all Wayzata besides the fluky goal and then the empty netter. They were lucky the refs swallowed the whistles in the last period I thought.
The momentum seemed to shift when Hermantown went on the 5-3 penalty kill. They had all the momentum after scoring twice, but Wayzata held possession and turned their game around on that powerplay, even though they did not score.
Schilling saved a goal or two in the 2nd for the Trojans, he was the better goalie, but Olson for the hawks made a big save with 2-3 minutes left.
The Hawks had the better top line, and probably 2nd line too, but depth and goaltending to Wayzata.
The 3rd I thought the hawks stopped working. Maybe it was lack of depth, but I don't think it was. To me, they just stopped skating and tried to play a defensive shell with the lead. They had room to break the puck out of their zone multiple times, but instead went to ice the puck.
Fun game to watch, no question Hermantown has talent.

Here is our story, complete with pics, box score and interview. On a scale of 1-10, Bruce was a 3 on the post game quotes. He was off his game :)

Not in the story: Bruce on Sandelin's GWG "glad the refs got it right...I was shocked they changed it...yes, I would have been pissed had that call gone against me, especially on away ice."

He was shcocked because usually refs don't admit a mistake, their ego usually gets in the way. From my angle (there is no good angle in this rink), I couldn't tell...I was surprised by the sequence, that they called it a goal.
