After a relatively easy 4 game stretch, Rapids will face 4 of the metro's best starting tomorrow and then the Edina classic next week. I'm sure they'll be going into a hornets nest given LVN not only lost, but to a section rival in a game they probably felt they should have won. I haven't heard if Alex Adams will be back tomorrow, but it will be nice when he is back for him, Bischoff and Mattson to finally play together in consecutive games. Like Duluth East, Rapids has been very poor on the penalty kill. Klatt sent a message to his team after a penalty filled 1st period vs Cloquet and they stayed out of the box the majority of the rest of the game. Rapids has many players with the knack to score, but I'd like to see Mattson put his team on his back and show why he is rated so high in the NHL draft list. Doing that on the road vs the defending state champs would be the perfect place to do that. Rapids has been playing better than expected defense and LVN hasn't been playing good D at all so far. That said I just think this game will be closer than most think. LVN has a lot of experienced players and is a program with a lot of pride. I'd be shocked if they don't play their best game of the year Saturday. This is such a tough game to predict, but I think Rapids outlasts them 4-2.

Said by the guy who has not seen them play one game yet. Limited SW to 12 shots, Shakopee (yes they aren't good) to 7 and Farmington to low 20's. It's not the Defense. They are fine.

Will someone please drag the local river and find Sats. :D
Been here all along pal. I don't hide when my team loses unlike so many on here. If this wasn't evident after the SW game I don't know what else to say!
you can always use the ol' "it was the clock guys fault we lost".

Has anyone heard if there will be a live feed for this game? I know Rapids radio station is streaming but a video feed would be awesome.

And I'll take Rapids 4-3. 8)

Lakeville wins in OT. Sounded like a well played game.

4-3 Lakeville in OT. Sounded like a competitive game with both teams having good scoring chances. Plenty of penalties on both teams though. It was a challenge for Rapids to contain Poehling, which was probably the difference.

Someone put the search out for my good buddy DJ!

Hats off to the North boys for coming out and showing everyone they are still alive! Buzz Eigner did a great job in nets.

I thought when Enebak went down towards the end of the first that would be the difference as he was playing very well, but happy the boys came out and finished.

Couple thoughts: I'm sure ill get some people coming down my throat for this and no ill intentions here, but Rapids blue line is not impressive. They need to get that shored up. #7 McLaughlin and #8 Hain are fantastic hockey players. Rapids D needs to figure out how to get them the puck more. They can be and will be difference makers. Also very impressed with #20 Miller. Good hockey player.

#21 Mattson is good with the puck but a non factor without it and really didn't stand out to me. He's big and I can see why he is hyped but doesnt do it for me.

Poehling was best player on ice again tonight. Kids really stepping up without Nick and Jack. North D played well and were great transitioning tonight. Won neutral zone battle all night. Their PP is lethal and teams need to stay out of the box against them.

After all is set and done this is a team who should be 4-0 and will continue to get better.

I think Rapids has a lot of room to grow especially defensively, but if they get clicking on all cylinders they will be a tough out.

Hey Sats, your comments on Rapids are spot on. Either you know something about the game of hockey or you are recycling my opinion.
Did Adams play today?

Haha! Well someone gives me some credit for once! (can you put in a word for me with my wife and kids please?!) All kidding aside, I did like #12 Bischoff also. Kid competes very hard, not quite the player his older brother and dad are/were, but he's a strong, solidly built athlete. My opinion is I am not sure if he is good enough to play D1 but im sure after 2 years of juniors someone will take a shot at him. Especially given his bloodlines. Adams did not play. Assuming that hurt Rapids, but LN without Enebak hurt as well. If i'm Klatt i would keep Miller, McLaughlin and Hain together and try to get a fire lit under the big guys ass! He dissappears too much for me for a kid who is rated high by Central Scouting. Rapids 3rd line isn't gonna score a lot but at least they are responsible defensively and won't give up a lot. Not much more you can ask from a 3rd line in HS.

When Adams was healthy they did move Miller to the sophomore line. I thought that was the best player to be with Hain and McLaughlin. Unfortunately either Adams or Bischoff have been sidelined for all but a couple games.

Rapids needs to cut down on the penalties and tighten up the penalty kill. I expect these things will get fixed as the season progresses.

and a "2-2" team just beat your 2016 State Champs.

Their PK was way too passive.

This would have been a nice resume builder for GR. I hope they get the BAM line back together, put Miller with 7 and 8. The only period I recall with that combo was 3rd vs BSM when they rallied to force OT. Hoping they go 2-1 in the classic and make sure if it's just one win it is vs Elk River. I didn't get to listen, just saw the final score today. Not a terrible result, but after the BSM ot loss, gotta try not be be the Wild of MSHSL Overtime hockey.

I'd be a little worried about the psychological makeup of this team. They had Bemidji score with 7 seconds left and then lose two OT games. This might be a big hurdle to overcome if they don't start winning these kind of games. They are 0-2-1 against three good teams. Wins have come against not so good teams. At some point playing good teams tough is not reason to be optimistic. You have to start beating them.
