Elk River to high, they have no significant wins, they have lost every chance against ranked teams, Centennial, Edina and Maple grove. Blaine way to low with a win over MG and ties with Hill and Centennial. In my opinion.
ER beat EP who were ranked top 10 at the time

I'm not concerned about losses, anybody can have a bad game, I track wins, not everybody can beat good teams.
Yeah, no offense here buddy, but if you only care about wins how is Hermantown considered a good win for Benilde? You argue Elk River is not deserving of the praise many of the forum has given them because they have lost every opportunity they have had, a fair point. But you don't apply that logic to Hermantown? Hermantown has yet to beat a solid team. So why would that win be consider good win for a 3-5 Benilde team that at this point in the season has yet to beat anyone I would consider good.
Also, why is it only considered a bad game if you lose? Why is it a bad game when Benilde gets blown out, but if Duluth Marshall ties Hermantown, that means they can't beat a good team? Who says they didn't have a bad game?
But at the same time you are making arguments for Blaine because they have tied Hill-Murray and Centennial. Maybe Blaine can't beat good teams?

Elliott does not list them and he goes 20 deep.

An oversight on my part.
They were on my notes and then did not get typed in.
But interesting to note how different people approach this.
And makes the winter fun to discuss this.
Karl does a fine job, but most of us can find something about his list also.
Anyway, My next list will include Wayzata and the Lumberjacks if they beat Roseau tonight.
Go Broncos!

I have it down as a tie, I don't count overtime.

Ok, I will try to describe this the best I can. I use the LPH rankings and award each position in the rankings a point value, AA top twenty thru A top twenty. When a team beats a ranked team they are awarded the value associated with where that team is ranked. As the season moves along teams accrue points, tie games a team is awarded 1/2 the points that the team is worth. Losses are just counted as 0 points, no deduction. At the end of the week I add up the points and rank teams accordingly. It's a show me what you have done kinda thing. You may not agree with my fomula but I think it is a pretty accurate account of where teams belong. I don't understand how Elk River is getting ranked so high when they haven't actually proved they belong there, they are getting ranked high on speculation. I say put up or shut up, ER has no significant wins an therefor don't deserve a high ranking. Start winning some games and they will get there.

Okay I just read through this entire topic, and I’m sorry, but HapoyHockeyFan I don’t think it have a clue what you’re talking about.
First of all, you don’t count overtime? Like what? They play it for a reason.
Also, your formula is not very good. Because if you assign the #1 team in A and AA 20 points and then a class AA average team goes and beats Orono (Blake) they vault themselves into your top 20 when they probably don’t have any business being there. You can’t value A and AA #1 teams equally because they just aren’t. Orono would get SMACKED by Edina, so I really think you should change that up.
Lastly, how do you not count loses? With the Marshall BSM game, it wasn’t even close. 8-1 is a loss. That’s not a bad game, that’s just not being the better team. You don’t lose by 7 on an “off day”. Loses count just as much as a win. And there is a difference between a bad loss and a good loss. Like 8-1 vs losing in overtime.

Thanks for your input, the AA top twenty and A top twenty values are not the same, A is less. As for overtime, I like to be consistent and count only regulation time, this way every game is based on the same criteria. I understand you don't agree with me on not counting losses, many agree with you, but for me it makes sense to base my rankings on accomplishments.

Speaking of rankings , Roughly 1/3 of 1600 surveyed, unscientific, thinks Edina is going to be undefeated this year. Responses probably didn’t take into account recent injuries

I think they will drop one or two along the way, but if they don't get ousted in sections I think they will be unstoppable in the tournament.

Turns out you were right. Never dreamed they'd lose to Blake. 5-3 late, so barring a minor miracle.
6AA seeds
1. Edina
2. Cretin
3 could be Blake? If they beat St. Louis Park next month it isn't impossible.

This win should give them a rankings boost.
