Given the way the game went, I was surprised White Bear didn't score. They had it in the Hill end plenty of times, and for long stretches. I could easily see WB popping in a couple of goals in quick succession. There was way too much scrambling in front of the Hill net.

Yea they had a lot of grade A chances but couldn’t finish.

Most of these HM v WBL games are slogs. The Bears knew their best chance at a win was to muck things up and hope Gabriel would steal it for them. Hill knew it was going to be a grinder game and did what was necessary to get a fairly straightforward wire-to-wire W. Not every game is going to be running time gents!
Agreed. I've seen under .500 WBL teams win section finals against HM. These two almost always play close games. White Bear Lake has talent and there were so many penalties it took a lot of the flow out of the game. What I noticed was in most games this year, Hill has time and space in the offensive zone. White Bear took that away and always had someone pressuring the puck, which was smart. They also had a high pressure penalty kill as well, which Hill was unable to solve. They needed to move the puck faster then they did. The good news is if Hill can beat Stillwater, they'll be the #1 seed and only have to play one of these two teams and right now that looks to be Stillwater. Gabriel can steal a game from anyone though, so White Bear will be a tough out.

Yup. WBL is a good team. They’re a consensus borderline top 10 group and this was an important game for a lot of reasons. Huge rivalry game of course. But this was important for section seeding. 4AA is looking like a 3-team race. Someone is going to end up with a very difficult semi-final matchup.

Hill just beat Wayzata and WBL, two good squads, by a combined 8-2 margin. They may not have played their best game today, but if your opponent doesn’t score a goal, you don’t lose. They did what they needed but do have to clean some things up.

Cretin not intimidated at all with STA. A very even first period with a few chances both ways. 0-0 after 1.

We're setting the bar a bit higher for this edition of the Pioneers, Blue

Although it's true the Bears step it up for us.

A mid-week sellout for C-DH/STA? Not hardly. Attendance was higher for the matinee.

Still a very respectable crowd. It's easy to forget what a band can do for the atmosphere at a game. Hat tip to the Raiders on that score.

No score at Aldrich after two. CDH has had the better of it so far

And the SEC is FINALLY on the board!

It only took five and one half periods.

But in the end its a clean sweep for the TRME over the SEC.

A fun game broke out in the 3rd and STA outlasts CDH 4-2. Will be a great section game were they to play again. Could see it going many OTs.

Park keeping it together. No chance in their section, but still a decent team. Holy Family has some work to do...

If only Park had a real star player like that Rudh kid for STA they’d be able to give the top 3AA schools a run for their money in February

So whose program got harmed when Stillwater recruited a goalie?

Stillwater’s did, by creating drama and potentially having a senior get screwed over by a transfer. He would have been the #2 or 1B in Andover had he stayed there.
