They actually looked pretty good in the first period, although you could tell overall BSM was better. Certainly gives me a sense of that section. AHA has one line that can score on any team in the state. If they can get BSM or Edina on a night where those teams are squeezing the stick (like Stillwater did the other night against HM), they can win. But I think we can queue them in at 3rd or 4th in the section.

Unfortunately I missed the entire 1st period of the AHA v Benilde game. I tuned in at the start of the 2nd, and that period was mostly dominated by BSM. Apparently I missed the part of the game where AHA was good….they certainly didn’t look good in the middle frame. The 3rd period was a little better for them, and I can see why people are optimistic about the Stars.

Wish I could have watched the Stillwater STA game, but the live stream was a total mess. Huge win for Stillwater. I was sort of thinking that Stillwater’s best case scenario for their two game stretch against Hill & STA was to compete and maybe split. They did that and then some.

As of right now (with the remaining section games of BSM vs SLP, Wayzata vs Edina, AHA vs Blake and Armstrong/Cooper obviously having implications) how would seed the top 4 in this section? Seems like an absolute mess!

Edina beat BSM, lost to Wayzata
Wayzata beat BSM and Edina, Lost to AHA
BSM lost to Edina and Wayzata, beat AHA
AHA beat Wayzata, lost to BSM

I don't think there is a ton of separation between BSM and Holy Angels. A section rematch would be must see hockey.

Might as well just flip a coin. It's better outcome then everyone having paralysis by analysis.

IMO, as we get close to the regular season my bets are on coaching and Giles has proven time and time again that his team in sections is not the same team of weeks earlier. For this reason, I say it’s Edina, Wayzata, BSM and AHA in that order. But who knows right?

Sucking the life out of everything. To quote the late Jack Prescott, the busiest bankruptcy lawyer in Minnesota, "That's all I do, and I do it well."

You said it. There's a game to be played between Wayzata & Edina. Whoever wins is clear #1 in my book. 2 is probably loser of that game. Benilde gets the nod over Holy Angels for 3. Holy Angels at 4 assuming they beat Blake & A/C.

Yesterday's game result was likely the difference between #1 and #4 seed for Holy Angels. They led 3-0 at one point in the first.

Clearly, using head to head as a standard in 6AA is not a viable option. Two of the teams don't play each other even once, and two of the teams play twice, with a split a real possibility.* Neither is the transitive property an option. It's a judgement call, and coaches are allowed to use whatever parameters they like.

The #1 seed in 4AA will definitely get a better shake than the #2. But in 6AA, at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter who ends up in the 1 - 4 positions. It will mean playing two complete games. If anything, #4 may benefit from the "No one believes in us!" whining.

Back in the day, it would have been a great double header at the Met Center, with a seat for everyone who wanted to attend. As it is, either game will be a hard sellout on it's own, and a lot of people will be turned away. Sad, really.

*When two teams play twice, and there is a split, the game occurring later in the season should carry more weight.
