Thanks...I was curious because I haven't seen him on the Gopher's recruiting page. <p></p><i></i>

From everything I have heard from his cousin he is known as the best in the nation for his age and 7th in the world for his age he has been anonymous due to the fact that he hasn't played in Minnesota since he was a third year A bantam for North St. Paul in 8th grade, left to play for the Little Ceasars midget major team in Michigan his freshman year then moved to the NTDP team the past two years. comes from a very good hockey family, older brother played goal for Hill Murray this year one younger brother is at the same Little Ceasars team and a few other siblings that are very good. My guess he will be a strong physical presence out on the ice according to everything I've heard. Also look for him to go high in the 2007 draft. <p></p><i></i>

I was fiddling around with some line combinations, and this is what I came up with:<br><br><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE START--><span style="text-decoration:underline">1st</span><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE END--><br>Kessel<br>Gordon<br>Wheeler<br><br><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE START--><span style="text-decoration:underline">2nd</span><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE END--><br>Stoa<br>Okposo<br>Hirsch<br><br><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE START--><span style="text-decoration:underline">3rd</span><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE END--><br>Carman<br>Flynn<br>Howe<br><br><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE START--><span style="text-decoration:underline">4th</span><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE END--><br>Kauffman<br>Bostrom<br>O'Brien<br><br>Reserves: Lucia, Pohl<br><br><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE START--><span style="text-decoration:underline">Defensive Pairings</span><!--EZCODE UNDERLINE END--><br>Goligoski-Anderson<br>Johnson-Vannelli<br>Hagemo-Peltier<br><br>Reserves: Fischer, Wehrs<br><br>Goalies: Frazee, Briggs <p></p><i></i>

i like the combos but do you think lucia is gonna have his own kid be a reserve...id like to see hirsch play with kessel seeing how hirsch seems to be more of set up man......but really i dont think they should break up gordon kessel wheeler line they play pretty good together...what u think they would run for a pp line <p></p><i></i>

I don't think the fact that he's his son has any bearing on whether Tony plays or not. Lucia will go based on who is the best player, and at the beginning of the year I don't see that being Tony. <br><br>I think Hirsch and Kessel will be the best passers on the team next year, which is why I split them up onto different lines, and the chemistry that Kessel, Wheeler, and Gordon created. <br><br>As for the PP, maybe something like this:<br>Kessel<br>Hirsch<br>Stoa/Okposo<br>Goligoski<br>Johnson <p></p><i></i>

goalie

I also heard that the third string goalie Solei is quiting the team as well just heresay but probablydoesn't want to put up with being third and never having a chance to play. It would be nice to see Kangas come next year he is very good and the Gophers could really use him. <p></p><i></i>

I would'nt mind seeing Kangas start early, he seems to be pretty good.

What are the chances of the Gophers winning the championship if Kessel stays and Erik Johnson also plays?

gopher will fall

the minnesota golden gophers will not win they might make it too the final 4 but they won't win cause the north dakota fightin sioux are gonna win it all leading by my realitive t.j. oshie jothan toews(if he stays) and brian lee.

Thats a fact.

good luck

Good luck with that the Sioux have lost more than the gophers have and a lot of leaders key players in Smaby, Stafford, Zajac, and Spirko. The Gophers have as good a chance as any team and if they get Kangas to come early they'll be in good shape.

I have been hearing that Hagemo has been having seizures and will not be able to play hockey anymore. Apparently he was helping with the model camp and had a severe seizure right on the ice.

Johnson in Maroon And Gold

Not sure about the Hagemo story. It's a real shame if it's true because he arrived on campus with such promise and really hasn't had a chance to showcase it due to injuries. On a happier note, Erik Johnson announced he will attend school for at least one season.

kangas

im kinda curious to get some opinions on how ppl think kangas will do with the gophers he was GOOD in hs...held his own ground in the ushl...but wcha is a little different then hs and the ushl....you hear alot about kangas and frazee and how they were such good goalies and frazee hasnt been much with the gophers yet at least in my opinion...and do u think kangas will be sitting behind frazee or do you think they will split or kangas start and frazee behind him?

Hagemo, Okposo

Charley Walters' column in today's Pioneer Press had this about Hagemo:

"Gophers hockey defenseman Nate Hagemo, who played in just two games last season because of a serious shoulder injury, has been cleared for contact and is expected to begin workouts with the team Sept. 30."

I didn't see it online but he also had something in the print paper from a scout saying that Kyle Okposo will give the Gophers a real physical presence which they haven't had for the last year or two.

How many Minnsota guys that are true freshmen are going to be playing regular shifts on WCHA teams this year? It's got to be one of the best years ever.

It sounds like it's doubtful that Hagemo will play much if at all this year. He has nagging shoulder issues along with the ceizures that were mentioned earlier. It's a shame that he has been so snakebitten during his tenure at the U.

Johnson should provide the physical defenseman the Gophers sorely need. There are a lot of new faces in the WCHA. Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Colorado College have all had to reload with freshmen who are going to be playing big minutes. It's a wide open race at this point.

Hagemo

This is one time that I wish I wasn't right!

It is official Hagemo announced today that he can no longer play hockey. He said in the interview in USCHO that it was because his shoulder is beyond repair but there are several more issues then the shoulder. It is unfortunate that a gifted player like him has to hang them up!

1. i am sorry to hear about hagemo

2. i think kangas will start over frazee because what i have seen from frazee doesn't deserve a starting role

A 5-1 record with 1.67 GAA and .912 save % isn't worthy of a starting role? Those are some high standards.

People need to cut Frazee some slack. He was a freshman last year but has looked very good so far. If you look at goaltending stats this year you will find him all the way down at number 4 and that is against some good goalies. Give Jeff a chance. Remember, the Gophs won a big one with Hauser and how many Hauser fans are out there?

I, for one, am a Hauser fan.
