with those top 20 rankings and the rest of MN, does that mean that the three best freshman in the country are all from MN? Cause i think the rest of those players are all 10th graders?
-shroeder
-hanowski
-fink

that is truely remarkable

Thorson being that low is a joke. He is better than both of them and Hanowski. 32? Psh....

Hanowski

Ben Hanowski is going to be better than both of them. Ben has the size, speed, hands, and overall love for the game to go a long way. Watch out for this kid in the future.

Schroeder is the key player on STA and the focal point because of his ability to make the eye catching play. However, Fink brings more to the table as a dominant player and a player that can take over a game. Schroeder can be noticed from time to time but Fink is a presence on the ice and his play is always impacting his team in what seems to be a positive fashion. I am not sold on the difference between Class A vs Bantam A hockey and am a true believer that there are more than a few Bantam A teams that could have made a run at the Class A tournament...just my two cents

I'm sorry but Bantam A teams taking a run at the class A tourney? Absurd!! Lets look at it this way, if there are 17 kids on a bantam team consisting of two grade levels..(8th & 9th)...high school teams consist of three grade levels..following this thought to its conclusion will tell you almost 1/3 of all bantam A players don't ever even play at the varsity level. As for Schroeder, his ability to do something positive nearly every time he touches the puck is what makes him special. Having the ability to control games at the bantam level is far more common than doing it at the varsity level. Once again I say they're both incredible players but you can't compare them till they are playing at the same level.

You stick a team like Edina in a weak A section I could see them giving some teams a good run. Look at a few teams in the A tournament, Little Falls,Mankato for a few examples. Not that they could beat them cause that is basically impossible to say but I think they would give them a game. But, who knows. It's near impossible to say but the top 10 teams in bantam A hockey are in my mind better than the teams not in the top 20 in A hockey. I've seen quite a few high school teams play that in my mind, i've seen better bantam teams.

Just my two cents.

I agree...I do think Edina Bantams A's could have won more than one section in Class A and several other teams would have been competitive. Put Fink kid on STA and he is a dominate player...while it is true that 1/3 of Bantam A kids will not play HS it is also true that 1/2 of Edina's would start for Little Falls/Mankato and Fink would be first line on every team in that tourney...that you have to agree with?

Marshalls first line is pretty good, not sure he'd crack that one...for arguements sake lets say Schroeder and Fink are equals...In yesterdays game Schroeder had 0 points, to just assume Fink would dominate is a leap I can't make. Yes a good portion of Edinas or Centennials bantam teams could play on many class A teams but don't forget, looking like a stud against 8th & 9th graders is a whole lot easier than doing it agaist 11th & 12th graders. Without question a certain percentage of bantam players possess the skills to play varsity hockey but don't discount the difference in size and strength of the high school kids. I think Anders Lee might agree with this, did you see the shot he took yesterday. OUCH!!!

this is crazy talk fink is good but he is playing against kids a year to two years younger then him that are less develped body wise. Jordan is playing with kids his age and up the people that are talking about fink being faster better then jordan are crazy i have watched both these kids play many times and jordan is faster, sees the ice better and for the person that said mike can win the game i dont think at hopkins next year he will be doing that with kids kids age

You also have to consider that Shroeder is playen about 1/2 to 1/3 as many games as fink is.

Yah, Shroeder did have 62 points. But, you must dig deeper. He had 20 of his 62 points in 6 games versus below average teams(outscoring those oppenents 57-6). In 20% of his games he got 1/3 of his points. While in the other 80% of his games he got the other 2/3.

When you look at it that way you still gotta think ' Wow, he had 42 points in 24 games (1.75 points per game AS A FRESHMAN) against average or above average teams (including Hill-Murray etc.), that's pretty good.'

Next thing you gotta look at is the fact that Schroeder, elected to the all tournament team as a freshman (second year in a row: 8th and 9th grade years) helped lead his team to a State Championship, whereas Fink couldn't lead his team out of regions.

My two cents.

you also have to factor in that shroeder actually has talent to work with. Fink does not

This is a ridiculous thread and I can't believe people think they can make an intelligent comparison when you have one talented player who is playing against equal or younger aged players and one exceptionally offensively talented young player successfully playing against players that are two to three years older?!!! Until Fink is playing at the same level as Schroeder, it's ludicrious to make a comparison. It's Schroeder hands down at this point! (I've seen Fink only a couple of times, and maybe he was tired in those games, but was not overly impressed - saw the potential, but also saw some laziness and bad habits.)
