Good for Webb. He did a great job stopping the 10 shots he faced all weekend.

Good one werdna, he'll probably stop all the shots he faces in St. Cloud too. He's one of the top 91 goalies in the state, probably the best.

Griz. Sorry about that, part of my post got deleted. I did not mean to be cynical. I am glad for Webb that he made it since he is one of the best goalies in the state at the 91 level. I was hoping he would make it and thought that he might not get a fair evaluation from the evaluators since he did not see many shots and only got to play two halves since District 4 took 3 goalies.

Yes Webb is a fantastic goalie and only playing each goalie two halves would be a disadvantage to him but congrats to him anyways.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... Maker12 at: 5/4/06 10:58 am

The rosters are up.

I'll make the first casual observation. Enrollment at Shattuck = Automatic spot on Final 102 roster.

Seems to be true. District 5 advanced 1 player. That player played last year at Shattuck. He wasn't even top three forwards from that district team. District 5 beat the IR District (12), and they advanced 5 :? , hmmm?

I know that they say winning at the festival doesn't matter, but 5 of the top 102 from the team that didn't win a single game and only 1 from the team that put that team in the toilet bowl seems odd.

Wow! I would really like to know how this thing really works. I wonder if alot of families opt out. But GOOD LUCK to all.

Here's how it works. If you are a goalie, hope to hell you get alot of shots, save 80% and your in. If you are a skater, hog the puck and make sure you look good skating...the hell with your teammates...if you are from D4 go to Shattuck or kiss up to Will Fish and John Noterman who will then mess with the rules and take 3 goalies when one of the defensemen get hurt..what a joke.
If you are a gritty hard working player who works well with teammates...you got no chance.

I love the little posting on the Advanced 15 flyer where it says the toughest thing is to pick these kids and that there is generally a 50% turnover from 15's to 16's. Now I see why
Good luck to all those that deserve to be on this and for those couple of Shattuck kids, thank mom and daddy big bucks

Bugsy, Are you suggesting that Mommy and Daddy throw some greenbacks Minnesota Hockey's way to encourage them to give a little extra consideration to little Spartan Johnny? How could that be?

Does anybody know if the coaches have input on which of their players advance, or is it completely up to a selection committee? I can see that Mommy and Daddy could influence a coach to promote their kids, but I have a hard time believing that Minnesota Hockey (or their selection committee) could be so easily influenced.

It's a sad state of hockey if that's the case.

Holy CRAP!!!

That's precisely what I was referring to when I mentioned that Enrollment at Shattuck = Final 102 roster.

P-O-L-I-T-I-C-S.

S-H-A-T-T-U-C-K.

8 letters.

Coincidence?

Twine, I am not saying they are throwing money at Minnesota Hockey. I am saying that the kids (one that you mentioned)should thank their parents for spending the money to send them to Shattuck because it seems like Minnesota hockey has the"heck if he was good enough to play at Shattuck, he's got to be one of the top kids in the state" mentality when that is not true at all. Sure, most of the kids that made the final 102 from Shattuck deserve to be there, but if you watched any of the D4's games including the prelims, you would know that a few of them probably would not have made it had they not been from Shattuck.

Does it really matter. Is this not like being picked homecoming queen. All flash no substance. I agree there are a majority of players that truely are deserving. But what comes of this anything? More ice? What. Politics why would anyone care what kind of bennifit does someone get by sending a kid to St Cloud. Truely have you ever sent your kid to a camp for a week and got anything other than a few less 0000 in your check book. Or is it all bragging rights another feather for someone to parade with.

It should be 103 !!

Look at the numbers, one team has a 19th guy.

Here is the breakdown.
Top to bottom for Districts.
Please keep in mind that some players do turn down going to St. Cloud so this is how it ended up.
Dist. # Players

Dist. - 2 at 14 players
Dist. - 3 at 14 players
Dist. - 6 at 12 players
Dist. - 10 at 11 players (they won! Right?)
Dist. - 16 at 10 players
Dist. - 15 at 9 players
Dist. - 4 at 8 players
Dist. - 8 at 7 players
Dist. - 1 at 6 players
Dist. - 11 at 6 players
Dist. - 12 at 5 players ( last place? )
Dist. - 5 at 1 player
--------------------------
Total is 103,

I had been keeping track of a few players from Shattuck that I knew to see how they were doing. Shattuck had their stats listed on the website. After the Advacnced 15 festival and I heard through the grapevine who made the Final 102, I went back to the Shattuck website to look at the stats again. I was interested in seeing how many points Isaac Kohls had. To my amazemant, it seems that the stats were way different.

One player in particular, only played in about half of the games (fourth line player. I've been told that they don't play the fourth line very much) and had somewhere around 8 total points before the Advanced 15 Festival. After the festival he had over 50 points and played in nearly all the games. Again, hmmmm.

Can anyone tell me how a goalie from the IR made it. They did not win a game and were destoyed by TC and D4. What happened to Schlink from Burnsville.

S-SM Stats

Interesting, RL. Before Advanced 15 tryouts, 8 goals and a handful of assists (I was looking at them, too... but I can't remember the exact stats). After tryouts, 40 goals and 38 assists... a miraculous run in the last few games to become S-SM Tier I leading scorer!! Amazing!!!

Is there any shame?????

Is there a Stat Doctor in the house??

There was a rumor mentioned on this board that Gretzky's kid was going to S-SM next year. By any chance, did he come in and don #20 for the last few games??

Congrats to EVERYONE who made it!! No one is saying that they are heading to the NHL because of this and, if you haven't figured it out yet, politics is involved in all stages of hockey.

No matter how you look at it though this is a great opportunity for these players and I'm sure that the vast majority deserve to be there and earned their spots.

Wish them well and don't worry about the small stuff...
