However, the customer service reps at Dish Network still don't know anything about Victory Sports, and therefore can't tell me what channel to tune in to. Does anyone know the channel # on DishNetwork? I haven't seen it published anywhere, either.

Victory is a funny name for something no one seems to exactly be rallying around. The fans are torqued, the cable/satellite folks think the plan is unreasonable, and the Twins can't do any better than putting poor Gardy up as the mouthpiece trying to sell the love. I understand where the concept makes sense. I understand that the Twins, Victory, and the providers are about profits. But, as well stated throughout these threads, the greed (wherever you want to pin it) goes nowhere without the fan support for in this case, the Twins. I emailed Victory, Comcast and the Twins and made it clear that this will probably result in me reducing my cable service, I'll not attend the usual 30 Twins games a year, and I'll spend more time on the gold course and draggin a texas-rigged powerworm along a weedline this summer. Gee, maybe Victory can sell my fishing as a new show too...This mess just isn't right, but we must speak up!

I have no problem with Pohlad making more money, in fact I want him to do so. But he has to spend some money to make some. Right now he is just in this for the short term gain. He wants a stadium, but the taxpayers should pay for it. Now he wants to charge us to watch twins games on tv. He will not dig in his pockets to get a slugger which will put more people in the stands and maybe even make people think paying a couple bucks a month to see the twins is a good idea. Everyone I have talked to is unhappy with Victory, not the cable companies. What about those users who don't want to watch the twins..... do they still have to pay extra even though they may never watch victory sports. And remember..... Minnesota professional sports fans are the biggest fair weather fans on the planet. Once the twins go downhill.... and they will because Carl won't spend any money to get anyone decent or keep anyone around, nobody will want to pay a penny a month to watch the twins. So first Carl needs to show the fans he is ready to do what needs to be done from an owner's standpoint and the fans will follow. If you think you can run things like the Yankees, you better spend a little money.

If you remember a couple years ago, when Time Warner and a couple other systems dropped FSN, they were back on in time for the baseball season. Victory knows they have to be on a system in time for baseball season, or they won't get any advertisers, and the cable systems know they need the network, or they'll lose subscribers. It will all get settled, though we might miss the first week or two of teh baseball season. One carrier will settle, and the rest will fall into place.

Victory Sports Response

I emailed Victory and got this response:

We understand your concerns. We want ALL Twins fans to be able to watch Twins baseball and our other regional sports programming. We will continue to work hard to ensure Twins baseball will be available to you and fans across the region - and ask the large cable and satellite companies to work with us to end this impasse so our fans are not caught in the middle.

We hope the fans will bear with the Twins during this initial set-up time. It is a bumpy road for the fans right now. However, we have placed our confidence in the Twins that they wouldn't have set up Victory Sports unless they thought these deals would get done. The Twins know that they need to be on TV.

Go to
