I know it's very early, but it is never too soon to speculate about next year. Anybody got favorites for the new sections?

As of now, the big rumor that I heard was this. Next year, things will be changed up as far as section 3AA goes. Centennial would move to 7AA, Hill-Murray would go to 2AA, and Tartan and Woodbury would move to 3AA. I'm not sure on who the other team would be going into 2AA.

Anyone know when this sections meeting is? I'm going to be really interested to see what they come up with.

I too, was intrigued by section 5a. But, not in the same way as others. Wjat I saw as odd was how they kept Mahtomedi and put Como, St. Bernard's in 5a (which is Basically teams west of the Mississippi) but still put Minnehaha, Washburn and Richfield in 3a (which is pretty much teams East of the river). This doesn't even make Geopraphical sense, which the MSHSL usually uses to determine sections.

North

North was listed as fielding a team in 5A for this year as well. Someone, somehow listed them as having a team and that is what they based the sections on. They do not. They did, for a few years, pair up with Henry and then with Henry and Edison, but they've been out of that arrangement for a couple of years.

I would assume Lakeville South would go to 3A, Redwood Falls to 1A and Providence to 5A, based on their locations.

Hillfan, if that happens, it won't be until 2007-2008. The new sections are already out. There's a link on page 1 of this thread.

So those are already final? I thought possibly they may be still working on it. I didn't expect that so soon.

Benilde could make some noise in the section, they do have some talent. I don't see them being able to come out of there having to go through Eden Prairie, Edina, Jefferson, and Minnetonka.

Does anybody think that Buffalo has a chance at taking 8AA. They have a lot of talent returning. I know that the seniors next year went to state their Bantam Year

They won't finish ahead of Moorhead or Roseau. Roseau will be stronger next year and Moorhead's JV only lost 1 game all year.

ouch i just looked and found long praire and sauk center in section 8aa. The new rule on enrollment hurt them. They made it to section 4a quarters last season for the first time that i can remember and now this. The new section 4a looks great and adds some welcomed new programs. Thought we might see more teams oppt up.

Looks like they've made the 3A and 5A split into more of a north and south separation instead of the traditional east-west (St. Paul-Minneapolis) split, with Como and Saint Bernards/Agnes etc. in 5A and Minnehaha and Richfield in 3A. From that approach, it makes a little more sense, but it bucks tradition

I've been to the mshsl web site trying to find info why or with what reasoning the sections are currently aligned. Or who decides, so I could e-mail and ask. I can't find out anything. When "they" decide, who are they? One person from each section? Anybody?

Four years ago, they supposedly used GPS coordinates and a computer program to place them in compact sections. That's when they first moved the southeast teams up to 3A. don't know if that is still the case, or if it ever was. The method has never ever been to get competitive balance between the sections. It has always been based on geography alone.

bendile lefted 5a so they could actually have a chance to make it to state next year. good job again MSHSl for not breaking up section Five, the section that boogles my mind to how a NorthEast St. Paul metro team like Mahtomedi ends up being closer to Blake and Totino then Richfield being closer too those two schools. orignally it was just a three minute bus ride to Alrich during Sections now its FiFty minutes. to be honest if i had the chance i would like to pee on the person ahead of the section assignments

I love the fact that half the board wants all the privates in their own section and half the board whines that so many strong Class A teams are in section 5A, including the privates. (Blake-breck-benilde-totino).

Love to have STA, DM, Minnehaha Academy, and Lourdes in 5a, then at least you know the BEST of the privates would be there. (with the exception of AHA, Hill, and BSM)

Edited by: <A HREF=
