The Slinger

I don't know where this is coming from, but like i said before, there was no chicken wire on the side boards in the mid 80's. There was plexiglass on the north side where there was some bleachers and no glass (or chicken wire) on the south side which held both players boxes and the penalty box. I remember watching lots of games hanging over the boards where there was no glass. There is nothing like watching a game where you are virtually on the ice. That place will always be my favorite arena...a shame they tore it down.

This might be a bit off topic, but What High School Rinks have the largest capacity.

I'd have to say Moorhead's rink, the atmosphere is insane. It's always jam packed in there with people from old to young and the student section heckles you like noneother. Cloquet and Roseau have very similar rinks, the old barn all fixed up, which is sweet.

I haven't been in many of the rinks in the Cities, but "outstate" i would say that the Mini Ralph in TRF must be up there and probably the DECC if that is to be considered a HS rink...Hibbing possibly as well. Just a stab in the dark though.

Going up to International Falls and playing in a packed Bronco Arena was insane. It was a really run place to play. Also, the Hippodrome in Eveleth was a really neat old building to play in, but the team was way down when we went up there so they didn't pack the place, I can only imagine what it was like in their hay day. I am also a little biased towards the DECC in Duluth and some of the great hockey that can happen there.

Bronco Arena is a good one in I Falls. I personally enjoyed the MAC in St. Cloud, but for nostalga, Roseau wins my vote.

Got to like Roseau's rink for the reasons you suggested Sealdog. I like Warroad's rink as well. They have done a great job of showcasing Warroad's rich history in a nice, newer building.

Any rink that had four walls and a roof over it was my favorite rink to play in

We are blessed with awesome rinks across the state. Warroad, Roseau, Theif River Falls, Hibbing, Excel, Braemer Edina, Hastings, Breck, Cloquet, Shattucks old rink, Elk Rivers (Olympic Rink), There are tons of great rinks with most being great for the home atmosphere that they have or the history that creates a feeling that cannot be replaced.
Theif River Falls has a modern facility that cannot be matched for a high school program and they have incorporated the past history to make me think it is the #1 High School and Youth facility! Thanks, Ralph
