Can't the Twins just go after 1 or 2 studs instead of signing all of these rejects?

I'm not a big Gardenhire fan, either. Most of the crap he does is just senseless to me.

Rondell White played 10x better when he got moved out of the DH slot back into LF for a while. I guess we're gambling on that continuing.

1 or 2 studs costs anywhere from 15-40 million. Not that I wouldn't like to bring an elite player, but it's just out the Twins budget. High-priced FA's rarely work-out anyway, I think our best bet is to find bargain reclamation projects that may or may not pan out.

I agree for the most part. I wasn't really talking about an elite player so- to-speak. I just know that Ponson and Ortiz got knocked around like pinball machines in the Nat'l League, I don't like their chances in the AL. That said, most 5th starters in baseball aren't exactly strikeout kings either, and I assume that's what the Twins are looking at with these 2. I thought there were better options available, though.

That's true, they didn't exactly fare well in the NL, and the AL is much deeper and has more potent offenses. They do have potential though, which I think is what makes them intriguing. Anderson is one of the best at getting the most out of his arms, so if he can't turn them around, they're lost causes.

I agree. Anderson is as good as it gets.

Baseball needs to do something about the recent contract signings. The KC Royals signed a average at best pitcher in Gil Meche for $55M. That is rediculous. I'm glad the Twins havent signed a real solid pitcher this off-season because it would cost them probably around 40-60M. The Twins cant afford that. Meche would be a 4th or 5th starter on just about any team but the Royals haha.

laissez faire

I am actually impressed with the Twins in how they handled this offseason's signings. They locked up Mauer, gave Morneau a big raise and the Twins have an out if last year proves to be a fluke (which I highly doubt), and excercised Hunter's option. The pieces are in place and if the talent comes through like last year we could see this team go deep into the playoffs. Starting pitching is my biggest concern with this year's club.
