This is kind of like the "new rules" thread in a way.

It was this way before Perpich changed it ( I think he's the one)....and now they want to go back.

Because some feel it's not working as intended........so looking back change or stricter enforcement is not always for the best of the game, because when they changed to open enroll I doubt many thought it would turn into a free agency for sports.

Although come Feb. I really have my doubts that MSHL can actually take the heat and approve the new changes.

If they can afford it people will still find a way to play where they want.

This is not France... AP should know!

The response is simple: field a varsity team of JV players from the smaller iron curtain district, and, at the same time, form a Free America Independent Tournament of Hockey ( for Freedom Loving American Minnesota Elite Schools) that allows a juniors-type D-1/NHL-prep 50+ game schedule while still stressing excellent college-prep academics. All the Gophers and NHL-ers will of course still come from our schools.

Remember, though the Public Tourney will become the joke it was pre-1975, we do not retreat into our own league alone. We send our less fortunate players to tear through the Bigot School Tournament, too. Don't let the terrorists ever feel they can win.

Its nice when bigots and terrorists come up with their proposals; so that, we can all see them for who they really are (like as if we forgot).

FLAML? Doesn't have the usual AP "ring to it"...

You can do better AP. I have faith.

Ah, yes, who will be there come State Tournament time...

Who I am cheering for or who do I pick?

The teams I support are listed.

The teams that I pick at this point....

Let me give it some thought.

As for the rest of it.

PB is a little on the right.
Neutron is a little on the left.
Zamman just right of center.
Ankles is somwhere left of right or right of left, I am not sure, I have a hard time seeing him. Or if he and the radical public school deny people are not one in the same with just a change in the slogan on the banner they march with.

Another Poll

"Maybe, if we just cover our eyes/ears/mouths, the terrorists will just leave us alone," Zamman cries.

I'm not sure FLAMES is an appropriate acronym for your catholic schools either.

How about League of Independent Great Hockey Teams?

I can't decide what is more entertaining this thread, or People magazine. Stop picking on the Catholics, half the kids that go there are probably Protestant! The perfect solution would be to open Muslim, Jewish, and Babtist schools, then you wouldn't have anything to talk about. Except of course, what age everyone gets their first communion at. Now that would be interesting...I'll have to check into that...not sure if it is a universal religious thing or not.

Not to make this a religious blog,

but should it not be

Family
Friends
Community
Activities
Enemies
Myself

All treated the same ....

With G O D not the number one thing but the ONE thing....overseeing and part of all things.

Anyways,
I will pick my state tourney teams based on info thru today....

right after this break to get some work done.

We are all as surprised as you that Ankles did not make it onto the AP top ten. Maybe there was a love-thy-enemy or two on the watch list, though.

AP's top ten is excellent and the FAITH acronym appropriate.

What the phobics dont get is: WE DONT HAVE TO RECRUIT.

The ultra liberal Kwanzaa crowd does that for us.

We just welcome the disillusioned masses fleeing the Godless public school system in droves and kick axe on the playing surface.

"Hey, did you see that , it was a religious reference" "Cover it up, quick, before the kids see it"

" Oh my gosh the Ten Commandments, we cant let anybody see those"
"The kids might actually be influenced by them"

Recruiting? Not necessary.

We will see how our mighty Crusaders do on the weekend on the ice and report back.

I have to say this has been the most entertaining post I have read in awhile. Keep up the good banter.

GoFigure FYI Baptists (I think that is what you were refering to) are Protestants and I am sure they have infiltrated the Catholics, probably thier leading goal scorers!

I gotta go and get some Kwanzaa shopping done.

My granddaughter comes home form school and starts asking me/explaining to me about their studies during the week of Kwanza and other religions besides Christianity.

What does Kwanzaa have to do with high school hockey? Kwanzaa is NOT another religion - it is a celebration by African-Americans and their heritage - most of whom are Christian, although there are a growing number of Muslim African-Americans.

The real question is not recruiting, but are parents sending their kids to a Catholic school for the Catholic education or to play hockey? I hope it is to get the Catholic education that they desire their kids to have and not for selfish and personal reasons like being on a better hockey team.
What would Jesus do? Stay at with His hometown team and play with the kids he grew up playing with or jump ship the minute he did not like the coach, team mates, etc?

As far as the transfer rule, it would not apply as long as you know you want to attend Cretin, Hill, St. Thomas, etc BEFORE you enroll in 9th grade. For example, if you were at Tartan in 9th grade and wanted to trasnfer to St. Thomas in 10th, you would have to sit out a year. I believe it would also work for public to public transfers, so if I were at Burnsville and the coach is a jerk and I want to open enroll to Eastview, I have to sit out.

Try taking a different tone towards others this holiday season. Yes, holiday, as I am a Catholic who recoginizes that some readers are Jewish, etc. That is not being 'ultra liberal', it is being respectful and behaving like our Savior.

Religion is not the only reason to send your kid to Privates

This has nothing to do with the catholic schools. Maybe someone wants to send their kid to these schools for the structure and education. My son goes to a private school in Richfield because of the rotten way that the Richfield School treated him. I am catholic and his mother is baptist and the school is Lutheren, what is he.....

He is lucky you are sending him to a private school for a better education and not just for athletic purposes. They are student-athletes - always students first...but it seems the trend is to find the perfect place for my kid to play puck, etc. There are plenty of public schools that offer a top notch education and send kids to Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc.
Most kids won't play beyond high school in any sport so parents should not live so vicariously through their kids. I can't wait to pump my fist when my son gets his academic scholarship for being a bookworm so I don't have to pay the $473,345 college bill!!!

The answer to why parents send their kids to any school should be "None of your business!"

Let me diagram this problem in black and white for those who have taken freedom for granted for so long that they do not care if some is taken from them or, better yet, their neighbors.

Say you have a young inner-city black player, like Kyle Okposo, who shows a great deal of promise, only this time his family does not have the funds to move. Kyle would be doomed to languish the next four years in an inferior program, learning very little from his below-average coach, and missing his chance to pursue his dream as a Gopher on scholarship.

Why demand that this young man sacrifice his future? Because Dave Stead and his League are RACIST.

Say you want to be able to worship where you wish. Instead of making a trip to the Cathedral, you now will have to attend church in your own neighborhood. If no church exists in your neighborhood, you will not be allowed to attend unless you sell your house and move. Moreover, you will be forced to attend the local atheist chapter.

Why interfere with religious freedom? Because Dave Stead and his League are BIGOTED and INTOLERANT.
