I agree boblee that Pat Rendle and his assistants Mike Newton and Chris Granley have really taken the GRG to the next level, they will be a team to watch come playoffs.

The North Metro Stars victory on Saturday over Maple Grove was Coach Gravel's 100th high school win in 5 years as a head coach at North Metro(1) and BSM (4).

Gravel & Palmquist have to be near the top for avg. wins per season I'd imagine too.

Congrats to both as they're two of the best out there!

Cloquet, SSP, R'ville. The winners. No shock there.

Can't forget Apple Valley coach.

Pete Hyduke does a great job at the helm for the Hibbing Lady Bluejackets.

Steve Bratulich has brought the Princeton girls a long way. He still has a lot left to do but he's doing a great job considering what he started with.

Coach Brano Stankovsky of Blake is 2nd to none. This is a guy who not only knows the game of hockey so well but also knows how to get girls to respond to his coaching. there are a lot of coaches out there that come from the boys side and they don't know how to handle the emotions of a girls locker room let alone how to get the most out ofa girl who plays for them. I wonder how many first year girls high coaches that come from a boys program find themselves in the middle of a locker room full of teenage girl hormones on full blast and go what the heck did I get myself into. Not Brano, he is calm and has a quiet voice that makes them listen, very effective.

Here is one story from this year about coach Brano, I could go on with many more that I have observed over the years, in one of the last games this season he brought up a senior from the jv who has played there her whole 4 years, never seen the varsity ice before. He played her in the game so she will letter. She played 3rd line most of the game but near the end he put her out on the 1st line between two of the premier playmakers and they tried to get her a goal or an assist. Unfortunately that didn't happen but they sure tried.

I had the honor of coaching against him a few years back in the Tri-Metro. Great coach, class act, and I'll spare everyone the many great stories I have that speak to his character and just how great he is for not only his team, but also the girls game - and sport in general.

I have felt compelled to share my thoughts on a very special person and coach for sometime now and decided it was time to come forward. Not only is Tim Moe of the Crookton Pirates a winner on the ice he is a very lovable, kind, sensitive, and understanding person off the ice. These leadership qualities have helped him and the lady Pirates to excel both on and off the ice. As a teacher Tim expects his players to perform in the classroom and to respect fellow students, teachers & parents. On the ice and in the lockeroom the girls have bought into his program with the highest respect and give him 100% at all times. While alot of the girls dream of playing at the next level Tim is more realistic and is really preparing them for the big game of life. Thank you Mr. Tim Moe

Couldn't agree more, this man pours his heart and soul into that team. Pete Hyduke, is a 2 time former coach of the year at least I believe, could be more...? Hard not to see why!

Coach Mike Diggins from Centennial has proven this year to be not only a top-notch coach but a caring and very understanding person. The onset of his mother and father's illnesses this past season bonded his players together-to a point that they all knew no matter what happened-each one had the other's back.
There were funerals of player's relatives, player's grandparents diagnosed with cancer and also coach Diggins asked the girls (as a team) to attend the Centennial Adapted Floor Hockey game to cheer the team on.
Between the hugs, tears and saying "I understand" he has proven by his actions that hockey is a just a tool to prepare his players for the "real world." (Let's not forget Centennial won their Conference and advanced to the Section 3AA Championship)

The best coach in the state got his girls to the X. Congrats Pat Rendle.

First we are talking about several individuals who are very good at what they do. However, it takes more than just a good coach to create a high calibur team. I have seen good coaches take average talent to greatness and I have seen good coaches take great talent to greatness. I think the key here is a person that can take either scenario and add to it chemistry. That TEAM is one that has character, integrity and passion (starts with parents) and the coach recognizes that and builds off of the above with his own character, integrity and passion. That my freind is when we get to see the talent come out of the players.
That is what I call a TEAM with a great coach.

Last note:
We are lucky to have more than 1 great coach in this state, we actually have several and that is why we can call this "The State Of Hockey"

Happy for all of us that get to enjoy regardless of who wins or loses!!!

That is true Remarkable coach, and a very down to earth individual. He has done wonders with that hibbing girls program! Another great season girls!

Dear Mr. Moe,

Congratulations on being selected as the section 8A coach of the year and named the Minnesota State CO-Coach of the year. Mamma is very proud! Way to go T-Bear.

From what I have heard from crookston parents is that the assistant does most of the coaching. Some of the parents expressed to me that Mr. Moe is getting too much credit when Mr. Tim Persson does the coaching.

No matter who is leading, congrats to the Pirates on being the first Crookston hockey team to play in the state tourney.

golden You are a cancer to all of Crookston hockey. If you are in fact really from Crookston I am glad that you are now living down in the Cities. Like MaMa say's "If you do not have anything good to say do not say anything at all." Hopefully you can grow up and make some possitive /constructive posts about Crookston hockey.
