why?

You say it's not like they'll win a Section title or anything. Yet, nobody from that Section has beaten them yet. Is it that hard to configure?

Section 8A is not like some of the past years...there ISNT one brute force or even 2 at that....I guess compared to past years this year would be one where anything could happen...im pretty sure scores show that to be true

Thought this was a post about the best Jr player in section 8.

I like CODY PECK from Fergus Falls. The other guys are good as well but lets talk about more good players instead of limiting it to a couple. Cody has been contributing a lot offensively and he is also an excellant defensive player too!

Yes this is for Section 8A....Fergus plays in 4A......

Larhke is by far one of the best juniors in 8a hockey but i think there are several players in 8a better than him. he is small and didnt seem to inpress me much. even though he has several points look at the teams they have played

Tyler Lehrke tallied nearly the same amount of points against nearly the same schedule of opponents and that didn't seem to phase Bemidji St. from recruiting him. Zach is just as good as his brother was and I'm positive he'll be playing D-1 hockey in a couple years. If you look at box scores against tougher competition he still produces.

I don't exactly think that Park has a great chance so-to-speak, but they're my pick and I'm standing by it. Playing EGF or Warroad in that building is going to be a daunting task(assuming they make it past the first round which is looking pretty likely because they're looking at a higher seed), but they beat EGF last year(regular season) in their own building and they can do it again. They got beat pretty bad when it mattered in the playoffs last year(by EGF), and I really think EGF and Warroad are both a tad stronger this year, but I'm going with the underdogs. I also really don't think you can discount any of the top 4-5 seeds in this section. Anything can happen.

On a side note, is this Section tournament ever anywhere else besides EGF or Warroad? It sure would be nice to use a neutral site like many of the other sections do. I don't think playing it Grand Rapids or somewhere else would really hurt it any, instead of giving home ice to 1 of the higher seeds every year. It sure would make it more of an even playing field for some of the underdogs.

The section 8a tournament is on a three year rotation between Warroad, EGF, and TRF.

Frankly, I think he's a more complete player than Ravndalen is right now. His dad just doesn't have Albert's ear like Milo does so he doesn't get the opportunities like Bryce does. That goes for just about everybody else on that team with any talent not in the "circle". If your not in Milo's "inner circle" your kid doesn't get the opportunity to play. With Marvin graduating this year, I think you'll see both Ravndalen and Hahn excel next year. They spent many years playing hockey together before reaching the high-school level, where they've been on split lines. That should change next year.

Thanks SC. I really don't understand how you can have the Section tournament every year at Warroad, EGF, or TRF. That's basically giving home ice for the playoffs to one of the top seeds. Pretty garbage if you ask me. Obviously these teams usually play better on home ice and I don't think playoffs should be decided like that, especially since none of the other Section 8A teams get to host it.

Yeah, that wasn't me. I'm mot much into giving advice, especially horrible advice like sticking with PR to win the section...unless of course i was being sarcastic, which is entirely possible. But anyway, Grand Rapids? My, how convenient that would be. I'm sure all of the 8A schools would love to drive hundreds of pointless miles when they have the two greatest high school hockey rinks in their back yards. Warroad never ever hosted the section tourney until they built the new rink. So i guess if you want PR or any other 8a team to host the sections than you should gather up the town, pass the plate around and build a new rink. On a side note, i believe section 7AA plays the championship game at the DECC every year, kind of an advantage to Duluth East right? at least our current situation is better than that.

So remember this is still high school hockey. IF sections is that important to the teams why not travel an extra 2 hours or whatever it would be. New rinks dont need to be built to host a section high school hockey tournament. Seriosuly....if its that big of a deal people will drive and yes people would drive..so what is 7aa always plays at the DECC...that doesnt mean it was to be that way....maybe there is alot more to it that I'm seeing but it can and should be moved to a neutral ice or a lower seed...the more prominant hockey school already have advantages with people wanted to play there and having a nice rink..which doesnt automatically make you a better hockey team or player

Why would you punish a team for being good, and having a rink that more then 1000 ppl can fit in?

Why have the sections set up so that the powerhouses have an eve greater chance of winning. I mean come on, nothing against the Gardens it is a beautiful facility but who else in the section plays on Olympic Ice? No one, talk about sealing the the deal for an already strong program every 3 years. So i ask you why punish the middle of the pack for not having facilities that seat over 1000 or 1500?

I don't give a damn where the hell you have it, no team should have home ice advantage for the playoffs, let alone the top 3 programs in this section every year. The same goes for Section 7AA. And yes, I do believe that gives East an advantage, and if you look at their record of gaining entry into the State Tourney the past 15 years nobody else is really even close. Grand Rapids is just as close or even farther away for teams like PR, DL, Bagley, Kittson etc. as EGF is, so the pointless miles you're ranting about is completely retarded. It's even more pointless when you put certain teams in your section at a disadvantage before they even step on the ice trying to pursue their dream of playing in a State Tournament. I'm not saying that PR or anybody in this section should host it. I'm saying it should be played at a nice, neutral facility in the region where teams don't have to travel that much farther than they do now that seats enough people and isn't a complete dumphole.

hmm, i couldn't make out what you were trying to say in parts of that but anyway... Don't forget, the section tourney was held in Warroad last year and somehow Warroad didn't win it. how could that happen? i mean obviously if you host the tournament you have already won it right? And isn't it kind of tradition in sports to give the team with the best record home field advantage when it comes to playoffs? To make it simple the directors of 8a have already narrowed the field down to the three teams that year in and year out have the best regular seasons. Its kind of something you earn after a while i guess. anyway, this thread seams to be turning into an excuse for the teams like PR and DL and why they don't ever make it out of the section. if you are the best team in the section you will be able to win on the road as well.

also...how big was TRF's advantage in hosting the sections? They finally won it in warroad last year after what, a 40+ year drought? How many section tournaments did they host in that time frame?

Agreed need to move to a netural sight.

I think that getting a higher seed and playing a low seed is enough of an advantage....i honestly dont see why it cant be somewhere neutral.....last year trf had 2 powerhouses and a solid team....they beat warroad....wow.....

why can't it be at a neutral site? these tournaments bring in a lot of money for the towns that host them, why would you want to move that out of the section? if you want PR or anyone else to host the tourny than petition the section. maybe you could do some research and find out just what the percentage is for the host team winning the tournament.

i guess its more the advantage part about it....i think u earn a good seed in playoffs and it shouldnt go to where you play...neutral...as in no section team host
