This is my understanding as well. Congrats to Gravel & the Stars. Gravel did very well at BSM, and their loss is most definitely the Stars gain.

He had good reasons. As do many. And they were legit. I will say that he put in a couple seasons, and relative to the lifespan of most G HS coaches, that was about average to better!

I'm willing to guess that the average G HS coach has less than 4 years experience as a head coach of G HS Hockey.

GHS,
I am confused by what you mean saying "I get it" and from "our conversations". Do you and rocketwrister talk to each other regarding rocketwrister's players? Isn't there a data privacy law regarding high school students? I think discussing specific players is out of line for a coach.

Oh the tangled web we weave.....

In comment "A" you say you aren't a player just someone who followed the team (i got it).

Now in this comment "B" you say we shouldn't be talking about players. We DON'T "talk" about players...just other people surrounding the programs. You know....like fans, and....... well lets just say "fans".

The new coach can do whatever he likes and I hope that all the fans, players, and parents give him their full support!! The program doesn't need any negativity....the program also needs to develop another goaltender or after next season there won't be a team.

Good luck girls.

Discussing situations is not out of line. Specifics (full names, etc.) don't need to be mentioned to discuss situaitons. In fact, many coaches often get advice or another perspective on their situations to ensure they are handling things appropriately. This can be done without any personal info. being disclosed. Such communication is well within the data privacy rights, etc.

When I say that I "get it" - this refers to a situational description. It isn't about the specific players or their identity, but the situation in general. Truly, the team was fortunate to have such a passionate coach who cared enough to put the time and effort in. Also, there should be respect for a coach that steps away as they know they can't put the same high level of time and effort in any longer. the coach in question held himself to a very high standard dedication wise in my mind.

I think what you mean by "fans" is parents and I am not a parent either. Why do they need to develop a goaltender now? The lady rebels goalie is only a junior which means they have 2 years to get a goalie which is plenty of time.

Posted: Fri Oct 13, 2006 4:48 pm
by skater1033
Also even after the goaltender graduates there are girls moving up and there are girls on the team that have played goalie before, so I think they dont have to worry about not having a team because there will be one.

Thanks for all of your effort in updating all of the positions that have been open and filled. This takes a lot of time and effort and I appreciate it. There is less than 2 weeks to go before the girls can start practice, why are there 5 schools still listed with no coach? Does anybody know if these have been filled yet? The AD for these schools better get going.
