I don't think I ever said they were strong or weak..... but maybe I missed something.
NP has played Orono...... Wow, if that is your logic, good job. Orono has lost to both Breck and Red Wing as well...
NP has played D.D..... ah yes... by a landslide.
You didn't get the score from the West/NP game? 7-1? Yeah, that sounds like it was a close one.
My whole point is, though both Owatonna and West are undefeated, it doesn't surprise me.
They haven't played anyone who could challenge them.
Are you eating your words yet?

No, I'm not.
I said I'm not going to put faith in any team before they prove themselves, because in my opinion, none of the teams have had any good challenges yet. Tonight, West has proven that they really can kick some, so I agree with you that they are a good section contender.
Chill.
I swear, the members on this board are at high risk for heart attacks or something, because no one can sit down and read something and understand it..... they think everything has to be offensive to them.

Well that explains why I have been feeling paranoid lately. I'm at GAC in St. Peter, and I swear, people around here are crazy.

Mayo has some stud forwards who can really crash the net. Tom Alexander and Charlie Thauwald can really wire the puck so if Owatonna can keep them down, who knows what they'll do against West.
I expect this to be closer than last years games which West swept 6-1,6-3. Owatonna seems to play pretty close to the vest in looking at their scores. West likes to run and gun. Which style will win out we will have to see. This is a big game in the Big 9 as this is the only time this year these two teams play. Look for a fast paced exciting game.
I haven't seen anything except for the numbers on Owatonna's goalie Wobschall? Does anyone have any insight on how he's been playing. Judging from what I see it is going to be a battle fought between the pipes. Bruggeman is going to be put through what I feel is his first big test of the season. I think he'll have no problem as long as he keeps his head on straight. He can't let a goal or two get to him (if our stand-up defense allows anyone through.) we've shown that after that first one the rest seem to follow. Davey, if Bruggeman has a solid night I think he can shut them out. If he is off, I say 6-3 West.
Yes, I do believe I DID call the shut-out....

Great quality game played by west tonight. I sat right behind Owatonna's bench and their coach kept telling them to get on 11 and 14. The first half of the first period they took them both out of the game. But after that, they did what they have done all season. And couldn't be stopped all night. Congrats to west. I belive they are FOR REAL

I wasn't there, so I can't say for sure, but the Mankato Free Press website lists the score as 11-2 in favor of New Prague, which sounds more realistic.
Same website reports Redwood Valley beating Le Sueur 3-2. That is Redwood's third win!

Captain. There are only 4 teams in the FF tourney. West FF DL and W Fargo. It is round robin format for both JV and Varsity. Not sure where you got those other teams

West 7, Owatonna 0
Owatonna did not really put a difficult shot on Bruggerman all night, maybe one in third period with a 5-3. That was it. Otherwise it was the same old story. Lieverman, Litchfield and pray for a line change.
The only bright spot for Owatonna was that Wobschall stopped Lieverman twice in the third period. But with the clock on running time, all that did was keep Lieverman from fattening his point total, which I guess is some satisfaction.
Too much L & L, too many penalties chasing them, and then tick-tack-toe and another goal. This is beginning to suck.
I say we just give West the section and get this year over with.

Yeah, I guess I spoke too soon...The other teams are playing at Thief River Falls. I think we should switch and play there too. The teams look a little more heavy adn really, what do we get in this tourney anyhow?

lost in all the buzz about west was a nice recovery win by lourdes over northfield last night 8-4. good balanced scoring. 2 goals by campbell and voight and 1 each by gudgell, bray, spratte and peterson. funk had 5 assists and hexum had 2. lourdes continues the tough schedule thur. hosting albert lea. should be a good one.

You can't hand West the section yet (or the Big Nine either).....things happen...I remember a few years ago when all Austin had to do is beat a terrible Faribault team and they would've won the Big Nine after getting a tie against Mayo...it was a make-up game on a Monday night - the Falcons won and Mayo got the Big Nine title....things happen.
The section is still going through Lourdes or Red Wing. The semi-finals and finals will be in Rochester, which also helps Lourdes and Red Wing.
Just think if West has the early game on semi-final Saturday....they would have to get up very early, try to get rid of their bus legs and the crowd would most likely be against them.

lourdes was never down, but northfield kept it close late into the 2nd period. eagles started slow leading 1-0 after 1st. raiders tied it 1-1 early in the 2nd. lourdes would pull away to a 2 goal lead at 3-1, but northfield tied it again at 3-3.eagles went up 5-3 then northfield closed it back to 5-4 before lourdes answered back as the 2nd period ended 6-4. eagles took control in the 3rd with 2 unanswered goals.

minnhock.com has four 1A teams in the top fifteen in the state, including West in No. 2. When has that happened before?
The rise of southern Minnesota hockey.

So the new minnhock rankings came out and West is at #2. That is a great accomplishment on its own, but West will still have to earn and work hard to make it to state, with Lourdes, NP, and Red Wing in the top 15 too. This could be one of the toughest sections in the state. Its sweet seeing that the SOUTH IS RISING AGAIN. I can't wait for playoff time wahooo!!!
