With a year under his belt, I see our new captain leading us to calmer waters, and larger loots in the years ahead. At least till his kid graduates... A winning record? Yes, It can happen.

The Fleet of Eights took a pounding tonight but they fulfilled the tough role of being the first ones in. Some of the top seeds ran their motors pretty hard churning out double digit goal totals and robust shot counts. The #1's have been softened for the next fleet.
#8 Bloomington Kennedy 13-3 loss
#8 Park 6-2 loss
#8 Cooper 14-1 loss
#8 LeCrescent 12-2 loss
#8 Redwood Valley 4-0 loss
#8 Princeton 8-1 loss
#8 Eveleth 6-0 loss
#8 Crookston 7-0 loss
All is not lost, The Fleet is still solvent as four vessels remain, including the four big Guns, Irondale, Richfield, Simley, and NSP.
Individually the fight, united they stand.

Well the Widows of the Fleet of Eights have company today as the bells also toll for the entire Fleet of Sevens that saw action last night, and the Fleet of Sixes, and the Fleet of Fives. The 'Dogs got dogged thats for sure.

Only four more 8's have a shot. It may be time to navigate against the tide toward the 7's... whoever they may be!

A convoy that was once 16 strong has been reduced to 4. The Fleet of Eights, damaged but not broken, have their remaining "A" vessels going to sea this evening.
#8 Simley vs. #1 St. Thomas Academy
#8 Richfield vs. #1 Blake
YES: It Can Happen
The Big Guns of the Eighth Fleet are still coming. I see Richfield, Irondale, NSP,
and Simley. And YES, that is the USS St. Paul Johnson that has joined the
formation. The Big Seeded fleets seem to be forming an alliance.

Hopefully the fleet doesnt run into any of these.
Not even the cowplow would save the day.

It does resemble the USS Hornet as they are both starting to go under

Great Moments in 8 Seed History
Only 22 years or 8,000 some days ago the 8th seeded Spuds knocked out the undefeated, top seeded Warroad Warriors from Section 8 play. The Warriors avenged that early exit in 1986 with a sectional crown in '87, but it is proof that YES: It Can Happen.
Only four more shots left in '08.

Bad news from the front, it is confirmed one of the Big Guns from the Eighth Fleet has gone down. Early accounts report they gave 'em
H.E. double hockey sticks before it happened. Another great chapter in 8 Seed History has been written.
The Diesel Fires aboard the USS Richfield
are visible on the Horizon just before it went
down after a 2 plus hour exchange with the
USS Blake.
Still no word on the USS Simley.

Hill and Cent will no doubt execute a final domination of the seas. Get out the white flags and surrender now ... and keep reciting the Geneva Convention.

And here we have a true member of the fleet.....USS Rogers (DD-876)
Not as big as the rest but just the right size to slip past the Rebel blockade.

This craft aptly named
"Seasons Over" is following the fleet to pick up survivors. For some reason, it appears to be following the USS Rogers...
