The Pioneers are easily the best team in this section but will they go to state? The Pioneers are known for choking big time in big games and Phillipi never plays good when you turn up the pressure. Against AHA this year he only stoped 7 of 12 shots in a 5-4 loss and I can see the most OVERATED goalie in the state choke again at sections.

Agreed. The wheels just fell off. Roseville seemed to be everywhere... they were knocking down passes, racing to the boards for loose pucks - Johnson didn't do it. They just got beat. It's frustrating, because they obviously had "it" the first 10 minutes.
I was impressed with #9 from Johnson the sophomore. Any truth to him going to North next year? Johnson just ran out of gas in the third because they were only playing 2 lines for most of the game. Johnson hit i think 3 pipes including one that could of put them up 3 to 0. The officiating was dissapointing you never want to see a game swing in one teams favor because of a bad call by the refs. Good job by Roseville to fight off the fiesty govies.
Johnson's #9 is Joe Rubbelke and yes he is going to North next year. He already is in school there but found a loophole to play for the last team he was on so he wouldn't have had to sit out a whole year. He went to Harding in 9th grade but now he's @ North.

I have never quite understood this. White Bear Mariner took 2nd place in 1982.

While I realize the schools were separate at the time, Mariner & White Bear High. They were WBL kids on that Mariner team. Truth be told the Mariner school building is still home to the Sr. High.

Oh yes! choking in big games let me think. Maybe they are IN BIG GAMES. Could that be a reason why they have that rap. 21 state apperances. Over 500 in wins at that tournament 2 state championships 8 total championship apearances. Yaa they choke in big games.
White Bear is deffinately the team that wins big games 17 appearances and a total of 15 wins they are the best.

lets add in Mariner that would be 17 wins in 18 appearances

Did you watch last year's section final? Who was the star of the game? Phillippi. Just because he had one poor, nonconference game doesn't take away from the fact that he is likely to be making his third state appearance in a row. Not understanding how he has choked in sections...

He is very overrated. Most of his shutouts are without making a tough save. He'll probably shut out Mounds View that same way but when it comes to Friday Night against Roseville or White Bear Lake he might be rusty. On that Hill Murray team, anybody could have that many shutouts in goal.

Hiifan you dont understand. Its not that important to win games like the section final or conferance championships. Its how many times you go to the state tournament. 17 times and 18 wins for white bear / mariner.
Thats like 1010% winning ratio: Hill has been there 21 times and only 2 championships that is like 10% winning percentage.

I think in order to have a little credibility, WB needs to beat Flip, then talk trash about him. It seems to me that he & the Pioneers are the ones walking off the ice smiling after playing WB. What is it, six straight?..seriously, I've lost count.

I think you are forgetting that Jealousy is a great form of flattery. You know the reason other team take shots at Hill is because they are jealous of the school hockey history and the current teams talent. These other teams fans will try to pick apart your team about any little thing.

Bringing up the championships and appearances just makes you sound like a Packer football fan though.

I undestand that flip is overated 8 shutouts and a 1.67 goals against. The only chance Hill has is to score more goals than the other team.
maybe the 175 goals they have scored or the 292 assists may help

You should already know that someone will bring up the weak conference that they play in.

True, that's cause Roseau ducked Tartan for like the 30th time in the last 30 years.

Roseau won the State Title last year and Hill went two and home by noon on Friday. So your point is?

For your information, I am a high school hockey fan. Not a fan of any particular school.

We should make this easy for all involved. Since we all know how bad the pioneers are and how weak the conferance is. And that last year Roseau won. Lets save a whole lot of time and money and drive the trophy up right know. We could have a jamboree instead and make baloon animals.

He's Choked at state twice though remember the Grand Rapids game 2 years ago when he didn't stop a puck in the 2nd period or how bout the the Century game last year when he gave up 6 goals
