I would also agree with Shanty...For the one seed, Warroad doesn't have an easy game. Crox is never a push over in the playoffs. But i'm not saying it is a bad thing, three tough games to prepare for state will only help them in St Paul. I like the match ups.

Going into the meeting, I think you had 4 teams jockeying for the 2 and 3 holes. The way the section shook out this year, if you could have landed one of the top three seeds you were going to get a pretty winable game in the quarters. No disrespect to Hallock, Crox, and LOW, but a fact is a fact, they aren't as deep as the upper tier squads. The 6-8 seeds can only win by defending, as they can't outscore the top tier teams in a shootout. Defending to win is harder now than ever. The game is 6 minutes longer than it used to be and the Olympic size sheet is hard to patrol for 51 minutes with 8-9 players.
MY TAKE
EGF - was the big winner today, I would like their draw if I were them.
PR - was rewarded for a season and I'm solid with that, the test will come in the semis vs. EGF
Bemidji - may need to play more 8A's in the future if they have plans of sticking around. They were never in the discussions for a top three when in fact maybe they should have been. A 6-2 win over Hallock and a 4-3 win over PR would have been more beneficial than their W's over FF and Greenway this year. Also, they may want to set up a future home and home with EGF.
TRF - tough draw, they'll need to take down Bemidji, Warroad, and EGF.
WAR - must be saying, "we are the #1 and we have Crookston, you've got to be kidding me"
Seeds 6-11 - YES: It Can Happen
I would agree with you Shanty. I would very very happy if I was EGF they by far have the easiest road to the finals. Park's chances at a section 8a title is %0.00 not gonna happen.
Flippers chances of leaving his moms basement.....0.00%....

[quote="Irishmans Shanty"] as they can't outscore the top tier teams in a shootout. Defending to win is harder now than ever. The game is 6 minutes longer than it used to be and the ****Olympic size sheet**** is hard to patrol for 51 minutes with 8-9 players.
The Junior Ralph is 200'x85'. A warm arena, though. Tough for "shallow" teams.

Careful what you wish for.
So, the Orange and Black are going to hustle through sections and down to the X.

I just read Shanty's overview and such, and when you made the comment about no disrespect to LOW, Crox, and Hallock?? I am confused?? LOW, Crookston, and Hallock all have to get into the Quarterfinals first. (I am not just picking on you cause it is not just you) Everyone counts out the #9, #10, and #11 seeds. What if, Red Lake Falls plays an awesome game and beats Crookston?? I just don't like how everyone counts these kids out before it even starts. Those kids read this, I guess I thought that as ADULTS we should be trying to promote respect for our opponents and all that stuff. SOO, GOOD LUCK BAGLEY, GOOD LUCK WALKER and GOOD LUCK RED LAKE FALLS!!! Know that you have someone that believes that you can do it!
Also, as long as I am posting I have something else that I need to get off my chest. This is mainly for one individual, but, Bemidji has approx. 1500 students grade 9-12, they barely competed in AA and needed to drop to A, then in A gets the 5th seed. I don't know what is happening there but it seems to me this shouldn't be happening?? I feel bad for the kids as I am sure it is very frustrating for them. BUT, the reason for my post is NO ONE should knock a school of 140 kids for putting a team together to play hockey. Calling them terrible, horrible, whatever words have been used is just cruel. Maybe a "I give them credit, but with their numbers they just have a hard time" or something along those lines is a little more appropriate.
Sorry all, I just had to vent, I am WELL aware that there are going to be MANY people out there that may knock my post but just wanted these kids know that we don't all feel this way and wanted to wish them ALL the best of luck. Remeber that you are ALL given a chance to the Xcel, play hard and you never know what will happen!! Remember 1980?? Miracle? IT CAN HAPPEN!!!

Apparently you don't hang around enough...
Also, I don't think Shanty saying those bottom teams aren't as deep is disrespectful. Like he says, facts are facts. Quite honestly those bottom teams are in the same ballpark #'s wise as a few of the top teams. Making up excuses to be nice is hiding from the real truth. Shanty is also one of the more respected people here. I think you're throwing sticks at the wrong person.

A general assumption in most overviews is that the seeds will hold, breaking down 10 games and all the possibilities in a single post would be.....lengthy.
If I'm not an advocate for the small guy, I don't know who is.

Shanty, you are just too nice.
Walker, no chance.
Bagley, no chance.
Red Lake Falls, little chance.
Their victors, little chance.
TRF, Bemidji, PR some chance.
EGF, a chance.
Warroad has a chance at state.
Yes, it can happen.
But not for Bagley, Walker, Red Lake Falls
Sorry boys that read these words, give it all you got and at the final horn be proud of your effort. Juniors and underclassman work hard in the off-season and come back next year and give it all you got.
Seniors go out with good memories and with the idea that someday you can give something back to another group.
And IS is the underdog's biggest cheerleader.

I could see that if Crookston had more than 1 fan you'd be a helluva motivator for them, Mr. Shanty...

I'm new to posting here, but have to stand-up for Bemidji. The enrollment is
http://www.mshsl.org/mshsl/enrollments07.asp actually 1255. Bemidji opted up 2 years ago, when they could have playded as a class-A school, but decided to play class-AA. And, back to that list, how come no-one ever complains about (bigger than Bemidji) Alexandria (enrollment 1278) playing class-A hockey?
Fact is, the State HS League has made it so that schools with enrollments smaller than
http://www.mshsl.org/mshsl/news/2007-08enrollclass.asp 1360 are class-A. Don't like it? Send a letter to the MSHSL.

Perhaps you should write the State HS league and ask them to create
a Class B tourney specifically for your team. That way they could make it more "fair" for the "not quite undefeated teams"

Yeah, Warroad brass wouldn't know what to tell the local supporters knowing they could no longer think about goin' to St. Paul in March.
