Yes it’s public knowledge , not going to speculate on it until the school bored makes a statement or decides to do Something sense he is not a teacher they might not do anything but he is working with young men and this team has had issues over this certain problem in the past. All I can say is he is a good man and I hope the best for him.

Maybe next year. With Trombley and Miller back in Green, I doubt it. He’ll want to see it through?

I don’t know if his coaching style fits Rapids but if he ends up at Rapids they will win 7AA this year. He better grab it if offered because who knows when that opportunity will come around again.

Btw, what is a more risky place to coach, CEC or Rapids? More coaching changes in the last few years than any program.

This is pretty bold IMHO. I’m as big of a 218 guy as you will find but I think some of us are overlooking a team with a pretty decent talent advantage in Section 7AA. Time will tell I guess.

Funnel more GR kids to SCSU? I’ll take it!

Grant Clafton Would be the best fit for the team, he has tried for the Rapids job before and got beat out by the nhler that left the team. I hope he gets it, but it well be interesting to see if he even wants it anymore.

We're just over two weeks away from the beginning of the season. I highly doubt Rapids will hire a permanent replacement, more likely due to the timing they will name an interim for this season and plan to do the full interview process in the Spring. If they want the best possible candidate then that's the best route for them to go. They can't expect guys to bail on their current programs right now, at least not the type of candidate they would be interested in.

Tim Achan?
I think his youngest is a Senior?
Good pipeline manager to Juniors and D1
return to his roots..
get a more mature presence for that role
(If they go the interim, hire for next year route)

Another option is Larson (can’t remember his first name) the former coach at Virginia. He could be for the long term.

Rapids will be on to its 5th coach in 8 seasons once they get a new one in place. Obviously it's an attractive job given the community support and upcoming talent, but the timing is bad for anyone who already has some sort of coaching job, and it's not an easy one, either. Marinucci's departure may be self-inflicted, but several of the others got worn down by the demands of the position and the parents and some of the extracurricular activities they had to contend with. I wouldn't be shocked to see a one-year interim hire.
In other 7AA news, Elk River's top two players appear to be back in the fold, which will keep the Elks relevant in this section's middle tier.

Top tier-Andover
Middle- East, Rapids, Elk, CEC
Bottom - Flake, Anoka

Some thoughts from a elite Grand Rapids hockey mind:
They MUST hire for stability. Say what you want about Bruce LaRoque, but he was consistent and was in it for the long haul. These constant 2 year stints by coaches and a somewhat revolving door on the assistants side are not good for a storied program. If they can't do that in a couple weeks time, they should go with an interim coach for the year and focus on stability in the offseason.
That said, here is my wish list:
Reed Larson
Tony Clafton
Sam Rendle
From my sources, I can almost 100% confirm it will not be these people for a long term hire (though I wouldn't swear it to bible):
Pat Rendle
Roger Mischke
Grant Clafton
Lots of other names have been thrown around, some of which are so unlikely that I don't wish to address them.

I really like Reed Larson. He has a statewide, if not nationwide, reputation and name recognition so his players will have a great opportunity for exposure. He also has a great view of the game, IMO, and you can hear it in his game commentary on TV when My9 broadcasts the games. I think he also has inadvertently been scouting all of the regional teams with his broadcasts so he is best set up to adjust any system he has to better perform against opposing coaches (looking at DE over there and the ugly neutral zone trap)

Bruce would probably still be the coach if he would have just cut a certain player in 2013 and not make the town go crazy the town also ran out the next coach, the nhler bailed twice first time the team was out of control and the second he claimed it was Financial issues and we all know what happened to Chris. Reed Larson is supposed to be one of the assistant’s for the girls team this year obviously things can change, I know reed obviously wants to help the program anyway he can so I can see him at least stepping up for part time but I would assume if he wanted it the job is his. I like reed he is a great man and he bleeds orange and black.

GR is going to need someone who has some HS coaching experience to get them thru this season.
An experienced coach has no idea what he's in for and all of the time required not only at the rink, but away from the rink.
I hope this all works out for them.
