Roseau is the best until someone knocks them off.
Lets see how good Edina's super team does this year.

If they make it that far.
And there is very little chance of Roseau getting knocked off since they play in a section that is ranked below two Class A sections.
But geez, I suppose that might be a sore spot for some. Maybe I shouldnt have mentioned it.

Never? I'm wondering where you learned your math. There is a very high correlation with a team's ranking and their likelihood of winning state. Every year.
Top 5 teams win more than Top 10 teams.
Top 10 teams win more often than those just outside.
And it is a once-in-a-blue-moon occurence that a team outside the Top 15 musters a six game win streak at the right moment.
History has shown that teams regarded to be among the state's best (defined by Top 5 seems reasonable) usually win. Last year may have been an exception as Roseau could have been a little outside that list entering Sections, but they were only a 2-loss team.
No team since Hill-Murray in 1991 has won state with more than 5 losses. (I'm talking big school class; there may have been a small-school champ.)
I wouldn't feel great about a team's chances to win state if they enter sections outside the Top 10. Rankings matter a lot.
(It isn't necessarily the ranking that matters, it is what the ranking means.)

We should be happy the the tournament will be seeded so whatever happens, happens Friday night or after. Hopefully it will go #1 Edina, #2 Roseau and #3 Minnetonka/BSM.
Until that time, dont get any cat scratch fever.
They gave Edina too much credit last year and seeded them #1. I doubt they will make that same mistake again. #1 Roseau, #2 BSM (they beat Edina) #3 Edina
lets say minnetonka beats edina this saturday,,, would that make them 2 seed?
if they win their section

A lot of hockey still to be played.
Last year it was Roseau with a surprise over Moorhead and Burnsville with the stunner over Holy Angels. Those two greatly affected seeding plans for state!
No problem here if you want to speculate, just remember things can change pretty fast.

If your excuse for your beloved northwoods heros' schedule is distance, how do you explain Mororhead's schedule being ranked top 10?
What the ....? Apparently somebody can't read a map, or ignores the posts explaining it to him. I've also come to realize that money can't solve the distance problem. As someone else pointed out, these kids are high school students and time is a big issue. They can't live on a school bus. Those very few posting from Roseau, it may be time to stop. Even though this is the internet where we shoot off our mouths with total disregard, disrespect, and with no sense of responsibility, I think several are getting a bad taste for Roseau. It isn't fair to the community. When I read posts explaining that Edina has no ill will for Roseau, but we do for them, it's time to stop.
Roseau, everyone, what does it matter?

WISH, the world seems to have a chip on its shoulder regarding Edina. Edina kids direct their focus to local rivals. At the present it is mainly Eden Prairie. Because of the public/private aspect it was Hill-Murray and now includes Minneapolis-area privates, compounded by the fact they've lost players to them.
There have been so many posts where people say they'll rejoice if/when Edina loses you can stack them and climb Paul Bunyan. 43, 27, Fox Hockey, Spin-o-Rama, etc... any of them make claims they'll be giddy when anyone else loses? No. Nobody in Edina ever much cares about anyone but themselves. (Another oft-heard knock against Edina.)

Well I have both Edina and Minnetonka ahead of Roseau, so it doesn't change Roseaus position at all.

Does it matter? Any of it? If Roseau gets to State they will get a top 4 seed, and a random opponant from 5-8. The top seed hasn't won since 2004 so I don't know why anybody wants it let alone argues about it. Is there so little going on in Edina and Roseau that not being #1 on this forum means so much?

Correct, I think it would matter if they seeded 1-8. I guess the high school league doesn't want someone to feel sad if they got the 8th seed?

Rankings are / were created to create conversation and debate keeping fantical people busy until the playoffs...I think the concept is working.
First team to win six is all that matters now.

Don't forget about T-O-N-K-A.
If Roseau, Edina and Tonka all make it, there is the potential for a semifinal game for the ages. Who knows, maybe Roseau doesn't get the #1 seed?
Tonka and Edina can both argue they are #1 based on Strength of Schedule. Roseau is a great team, but they haven't really played anyone.
Their two best wins are 1-0 over Blaine and 1-0 over Rapids, two decent teams, but not in the caliber of Edina or Tonka.

The Rams own the Championship Belt and until someone knocks them off they are #1.
