Wayzata 8 Orono 0
Orono played tough for 7-8 minutes in 1st period. Then the wheels came off.
Since Orono can't skate very well, their strategy was to take the body on on Wayzata. It worked well early on, as the little guy from Wayzata had a tough time taking a hit. He got a slashing penalty for retaliating after a clean hit. But after Wayzata took control of the game (4-0), Orono started getting cheap and taking runs at Wayzata. #15 from Orono hit the little guy from behind. #15 got a 2 and 10 for that cheap shot.
Also, #15 never saw the ice again as their coach sat him for the rest of the game.
However, #14 from Orono then started gooning it up and was also an embarassment to hockey.
As part of the tourney committee, I apologize for the way Orono played.
Checking is part of hockey, but not the way #14 and #15 do it.

Wayzata could have won by a lot more...I agree about # 14 and #15.
MG vs. Wayzata should be a good one Friday.

No real surprises in the D3 playoffs with Wayzata and OMG both looking very strong tonight. I was able to catch both games tonight and was really interested in the Armstrong/OMG game. Armstrong has been playing very well lately and I anticipated a tight game. It didn't happen. OMG has size on the blue line but I was most impressed with how their forwards moved the puck tonight. They have a few skilled players up front that could give Wayzata problems.
