Seven one goal games and all victories does say something. But will their luck(?) run out in the playoffs?

There's no question that based on the close games, EP has been vulnerable. The coaches and parents have way more gray hair as of late, but there's more to the games than what is seen from the box score.

A stat that is not discussed here, but is extremely important to guys like Lemaire and Lucia, is scoring chances. Despite the close games the scoring chances have not been close. In the last Eagan game Eagan had more than 20 shots, but if you look at the shot chart all of the shots were from the outside and didn't really test EP's goalie. If a goalie has to make only routine, or easy, saves, they'll win a lot of games. On the other side Eagan's Altman faced many quality shots and played very, very well. She made a few game saving saves -- she no less robbed a couple of shooters.

Aganist Wayzata, EP didn't play particularly well but definetly had more scoring chances. Wayzata had only 6-8 shots over the last two periods -- it's tough to score without more pressure than that. Wayzata's goalie also played well.

Over the season, EP has allowed only 22 goals. They flat out limit scoring chances. That said, it will be important for them to do more scoring themselves if they want to defend their state title. We all know that anything can happen in a close game.

Don't count EP out yet. They skate as well as anyone, have as many skilled players as anyone, and if they continue to limit scoring chances, are in every game they play. It's late in these kinds of games that their depth and skill shows through.

Armstrong fires 40 shots at the Wayzata goalies but only manages one goal and gets beat 1-6. The starting Armstrong goalie lasted only 8 minutes after giving up 3 goals in just 4 shots, and the game was already pretty much decided right there. Armstrong had much of the territorial advantage but had difficulty penetrating Wayzata's much stronger defense and had very few close-in attempts or good rebound opportunities. When called upon, Wayzata's two goalies were up to the task and made the saves they needed to make to prevent it from being a much closer game.

Word has it that the Wayzata girls are convinced they can handle EP in the sections (assuming they get seeded 1 and 4 as expected, and each team makes it to the semi's).

My guess is Hopkins will be seeded 4th and Wayzeta 5th. Hopkins beat and tied Wayzeta and head to head is very important in seeding.

The problem is einstien that Wayzata and Hopkins will be playing each other before they get to E.P. and I dont think Wayzata will beat Hopkins!

If they do meet again in the first round, it will be a good matchup, but I think Wayzata is a deeper team and will prevail.

After laying an egg in the Schwan's Cup, CDH has quietly won 8 straight including the last two over a top-15 team (FL) and now a top-10 team (Stillwater). They should now be considered at least co-favorites in 5AA with Eagan and AHA. They finish with Roseville and Hastings, both should be good games.

I agree I was able to make the game last night. I was impressed with CDH they are a deeper team than last year, 3 solid lines, 4 good D. The key to their playoff run will be their goaltending, the girl they had in net last night is young, and didn't seem to get challenged by the stillwater shooters. In part because of the defensive work of CDH.

I will also say that wasn't the same stillwater team that I saw play mid-season they just don't seem to be playing at the same level they were a month ago.

This coupled with HM beating RF 1-0 tonight sets the stage for a great final Conf. game with HM coming into Wakota on Fri.

If SSP wins, they share the title. A HM win or tie means HM gets the title.

Should be a great game with a conf. title on the line!

While unexpected I think that this illustrates how strong the Missota is this season. There are a number of very solid teams in there including AA - AHA, & class A NP, Farm, & Shak just to name a few... Also a very solid AA - PL team as well...

The StarTribune has it as an overtime 1-1 tie. Shots were 40-35 favoring Moundsview - both goalies must have been good.
