The only way to get better than the #4 seed is to win at Elk River Saturday. Lose that game and at Cloquet and the Hounds are on the road back to Cloquet in a few weeks as the #5 seed.
SO IT IS WRITTEN, SO IT WILL BE DONE.
I don't think the #3 seed will take a win against ER, although it would likely lock it up. Beating Cloquet again coupled with the lack of SOS for STMA means DE is still #3 and plays the #6 seed.
Unless they go 0-5 to end the season - which isn't out of the realm of possibility (@ER, @CEC, @LVS, @Blaine, and Minnetonka)

Rumor is that Section 7 has coaches that are pushing for QRF for ceding.
that would give us the above (as of today).
That would seem to be inappropriate (at least from where I sit).

That weak SOS for STMA only is in play if East can get a quality win, which as of now they have 0. Yes they did beat STMA in OT at home, however 1 game doesn't decide the seed. STMA also beat Andover and Anoka, whom East tied and lost to. So factoring those 3 games, STMA has a 2-1 edge.

I would gladly take that but don't think that's how it should be.. This is how I see it now
Elk River
Grand Rapids
STMA
Dultuh East
Cloquet
Forest Lake
Andover
Cambridge
Isanti
3,4 and 5 could still change
Forest lake and Andover still play each other
East losing to Anoka didn't help them seeing as you want to talk about STMA SOS they beat Anoka 4-1... And yes they did lose to Monticello which was a bad loss (thought I would say that for you). And they did lose an overtime road game early in the year at East (who knows, maybe that was a bad loss also )

Losing with a minute left no matter who you are playing is a bad loss but to a .500 team does makes it seem even worse now. These next few weeks will be fun and I am just happy STMA is relevant enough to be in these conversations!

I still don't understand how people are thinking East would get the 5 seed by losing out. It wouldn't surprise me if East did lose out the season. If they do, I would think the top five seeds would be:
1. ER
2. GR
3. CEC
4. DE
5. STMA
STMA also has a lot of games left. If they beat CEC, that would change my mind, but I don't see that happening. Plus, they still have to play Monticello again.

Basically your agreeing with my analysis saying whoever wins between STMA and Cloquet is 3 seed loser is 5 and East will end up at 4 unless they pull off some big sets down the stretch... However If STMA beats Cloquet and Cloquet beats East and East loses out East could wind up being 5 seed.
If Cloquet beats STMA and East beats Cloquet.. It could go East , Cloquet then STMA.... Still a lot to be decided

I would be OK with a 5 seed and a rematch with DE. No disrespect to DE but I feel like they are the team most likely to be upset this year and you have to get through ER at some point so why not 2/21/2015 at Amsoil! You may be saying "but woodstickguy you don't get a home game" and all I can say is have you seen our arena - really, have you seen it!!!

I am here... And obviously East could have "easily" won that game.
But in reality, I wasn't there to analyze the game. Obviously a really bad time to take a loss from a team like Anoka (who seemingly played a great game). I'm curious to see who was in net for the hounds. I still do believe (with my heart, not my head) the hounds will take down ER this Saturday.
But i will reiterate again that this is ER's section to lose, even though I do think East has the best shot of taking them down. Having home ice advantage, the mental edge, and Randolph coaching will always put them at a pretty good advantage over other teams. The players need to step up (especially the seniors), most of them have been through sections before and have played in state. This is their time to shine.
But I will say it again and again... This is ER's section to lose, and probably the last time they will be able to make it to state through 7AA, with section realignments coming up. I'm excited to see them move on and have Duluth Marshall come in. That will be a GREAT rivalry.
We will see what happens. A lot of questions will be answered come Saturday.

East beating STMA early in the season should be discounted based on their logic last year in losing to ER early. Their rationale was how much they had improved over the course of the year. Let's see how it plays out. Regarding Using QRF, don't see it happening. Coaches would not want to give the control and with a 25 game schedule they try and play each other as much as possible.

Grand Rapids at the 4 seed when they beat the hounds for the first time in years... That would be hilarious.

Slammer...Howg was in net for DE...and you are delirious you think Anoka somehow stole this game. They were up 2-0 after 1 per. 3-1 after 2 per, 4-1 early in 3rd, then 4-2, then Howg made a series of saves, Anoka missed an open net from 10 feet shot wide, DE D rang the puck around boards and Anoka D slipped down giving DE a breakaway goal and in reality a 2 goal swing to get it to 4-3. Anoka then answered to make it 5-3 and that was the final. Yeah, " to take a loss to a team like Anoka"...who by the way has beat and tied Blaine, beat MG, and now beat DE

I think he's reading that out of your "easily" reference. I assume he isn't familiar with your "easily could have won the game" quote from last year that just won't die.

But if they use QRF to determine seeding you will have to deal with hard data and we wouldn't want that. Do you have any idea how much time and effort some of these people put into these smoke screen arguments. We wouldn't want to put less emphasis on reputations, mystique, and past trips to the state tournament!
"Don't you know who we are? We used to be somebody and if you make us stand on our 2014-2015 record, then we aren't very good. Our SOS is awesome and yours is terrible! Never mind that we lose half of our games. That's because we have to play the top 5 teams in the state every night."
You just aren't very good this year. It's OK.

It's very possible that both Duluth East and Rapids could end up with records below .500. Duluth East (10-9-1) has games with Elk River, Cloquet, Blaine, Lakeville South and Minnetonka (this is their only home game). Rapids (10-10-2) has games with Moorhead, International Falls, and Duluth Denfeld. This really speaks as to how weak the section is this year.

Wouldn't it be something if East did end up getting 5 seed (and it is possible no matter what anyone thinks) and they had to go to the road for their qtr final game where they were 3-7-1 this year. What if they were to go one and done and not even play at Amsoil?
Would the world come to an end?

When they finally get to 55 goals this year, they're really going to catch fire.
As far as being worried, who said I was worried? "Somebody needs a hug." Brilliant. I bet you"ll fire back with, "What line are you on?"
