So currently St. Francis is only 0.2 points ahead of Rapids in the QRF. If Rapids beats Hermantown tomorrow I wonder how many points they can move up. How many points must separate two teams so the tie breaker doesn't come into play?

QRF dudes?: does CEC have any chance to get the #3 seed even after loosing to Grand Rapids Tuesday night? Thanks

Right now it’s 6 and it’s projected to finish at 6.3. I don’t think they can gain 7 with a win over Htown but if they win and Franny loses to Legacy then maybe. I agree with you from before I wish they’d use schedule strength too.

Either way I would just like to see Rapids play the entire quarterfinal like they did period 1 vs Cloquet. Just make the game so miserable for the other team they go to the lockerroom pissed even if they win.

Well, there you have it. The Elks with the #3 seed and CEC with the #4. That’s fine

. Congrats to the Elks!

Kniven: are you sure about that? DM was above CEC in QRF this morning . with ER right behind in 5th. Now that ER has won tonite, they will likely jump CEC.

A Rapids win over Hermantown should move them out of the play in game.

Well. I think it would be a #5 seed, but everybody on the forum screaming at me that no way CEC falls to #5. So I don’t know what to think anymore.

QRF ratings: Duluth Marshall 111.9 (season completed)
CEC 109.9 (season completed)
Elk River 109.0 (not including the H-M and A-C games)
CEC could drop to a #5 seed according to these numbers.

CEC could drop to a #5 seed according to these numbers. It will be interesting to see how many points the victory over H-M will be and Elk will still get some point(s) for a win over Armstrong-Cooper. This is going to be fun to see how this plays out. Marshall got 4.4 points for beating Greenway. Seems like Elk would get a lot more for beating H-M.

per many previous posts CEC is within the tiebreaker margin with Marshall and that means it comes down to head to head. CEC beat Marshall and can't be seeded behind them.

QRF has proved to be very entertaining except in the Rapids, St. Franny SOS area. Every game counts and the success of the teams you have played so important. It has also eliminated the perceived or real bias that has taken place. You control your own destiny, just win the game you are playing.

You can’t argue with that logic

Will there ever be more interest in a quarterfinal playoff game than Rapids and East will have next week?

A lot of 4-5 and 3-6 games are interesting each year. I doubt there has been a 1-8 game with as much interest in the past.
Does Grand Rapids have an outside shot at the 7 still? I think they would need to move far enough ahead of St. Francis to be outside of the tiebreak margin, currently 6.0 but expected to move to 6.3. Since they're 0.2 behind, they would need quite the jump. Is it possible? I haven't really watched to see how much QRF changes day to day.

Semi-final game times for next weekend are not yet final. DECC/Amsoil employees have been given two different scenarios based on whether the UMD women's hockey team earns home ice for their first round 3-game playoff series (which is likely).
If they do get a home quarterfinal series, those games would be played at Amsoil in the afternoon on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (if necessary), and--as has been discussed on the forum--the 7A semi-finals would be Friday evening and 7AA would play Saturday evening.
HOWEVER....according to the memo sent to DECC/Amsoil employees, if the UMD women have to go on the road, that frees up Amsoil on Saturday, so both sets of semi-finals would be played on Saturday as has been done in recent years: 7AA in the afternoon, and 7A in the evening.
UMD is currently in 4th place in the WCHA--the last home ice playoff spot--2 points ahead of 5th place Bemidji. UMD plays at last place Mankato this weekend (they've only won 3 conference games all year), while Bemidji plays at 2nd place Ohio State, so it's likely UMD stays ahead of Bemidji and gets home ice, putting the high school semi-finals on Friday and Saturday nights, as we've expected on the forum for a while. But we won't know for certain until all the games are completed Saturday (and all of the Saturday WCHA games are Saturday afternoon, so we should know by 6pm).
Unless, of course, the info given to DECC employees is wrong....

If both on Saturday, the 7A games should be afternoon, 7AA games at night. Maybe if enough fans write in to the DECC about it there will be a change. Just seems so bass ackwards having the single A games in the evening.

I wonder if it’s the DECC’a decision or what the section committees want. Fortunately, it’s an unlikely scenario. (And personally, I have no preference.)

They do it that way because of the southern teams in 7AA
