The rest are wannabees

Edina 9! You can't split Edina East and Edina, and yes yes if we can combine these, we can let Bloomington have 6!
By one school............... Pinhead

You don't have to combine Edina, Edina-East and Edina-West. But, keep in mind, if they would not have split into 2 high schools and stayed as 1 like EP, they might have gone 10 years without a loss. We would be talking about Edina with 15 or 16 titles.

If we are spanning the entire history of high school hockey, you have to mention St. Paul Johnson.
In the early days of the tournament, the Governors were the only team in the cities that could beat the northern teams when it counted. I believe they were the only non-northern team to win the tourney for like the first 25 years of the thing.
NOt to mention it is the school that gave us Herb Brooks, Wendy Anderson and a boatload of Gophers

Steve Janaszak was a four-year varsity & All-American goalie for Hill-Murray.
His freshman year was 1972, the Pioneers' first full year as Hill-Murray and another State Championship.
His senior year was another H-M milestone, the first year the MSHSL allowed Catholic schools to compete (1975), and he took advantage by winning all but one post-season game (losing only to State Champion Grand Rapids).
Though he had to settle for Third Place, he was considered the best goalie in Minnesota (at least by Herb Brooks and the Minnesota Gophers).
Although playing for
Herb Brook's 1976 through 1979 NCAA Championship Gophers
and widely considered the
best amateur goalie in America & NCAA MVP,
Steve Janaszak was the only member of the
“Miracle On Ice” 1980 gold medal U.S. hockey team
to not appear in any of the games at the Olympics, because Herb Brooks, having majored in psychology, wanted to work on personal issues of the other goalie, Jimmy Craig (Brooks had felt messing around inside Janaszak's head would be too difficult, and Steve, who had majored in Chemical Engineering at the University of Minnesota, never once complained in his new role).
Do your own research or watch "Miracle On Ice" if you do not believe Ankles Pierre!
Steve Janaszak also received the 1980-81 Ken McKenzie Trophy for Rookie of the Year and
played in the NHL with the Minnesota North Stars and Colorado Rockies.
However, Steve is best known as the brother of Louise Janaszak, who cheered Ankles Pierre on to glory for Hill-Murray!

I'm curious how Hill Murray seems to have pretty good high school hockey, yet I never see their bantams, peewees or squirts ever rated. How is that possible?

As a young boy, Steve Janaszak played his first hockey as a fifth line forward on some of the same ice rinks where Ankles Pierre later would come to fame.
Now, fast-forward to 1980 (Reprinted from the 1997 book - "USA Hockey: A Celebration Of A Great Tradition"):
Dave Ogrean, then a young public relations director for USA Hockey, remembered boarding a plane to head home, thinking how nice it would be to catch up on the sleep he lost in the gold medal revelry.
The flight attendant's eyes widened as she noticed his Team USA hockey parka. But Ogrean cut her off with a quick shake of the head. He had just closed his eyes when the flight attendant announced over the public address system: "Ladies and gentleman, in 6C, we have a member of the U.S. gold medal hockey team." The plane filled with applause and hoots of delight.
"I really didn't want to take the time to explain to everyone that I wasn't a player, and besides, they wanted me to be a player," said Ogrean, now USA Hockey's executive director. "They wanted to come by and be a part of what had occurred at Lake Placid."
He thought quickly about what player he could pass for and settled on backup goaltender Janaszak, who had been the only team member not to register a minute of playing time at the Olympics. Ogrean figured no one would know Janaszak and signed many cocktail napkins that were passed his way.
Years later, he ran into Janaszak at a luncheon and confessed to the impersonation. He told Janaszak he signed fifteen autographs using his name. "That means there are probably sixteen napkins out there with my autograph," Janaszak joked.
However, Steve is best known as the brother of Louise Janaszak, who cheered Ankles Pierre on to glory for Hill-Murray!

Louise must not have been thinking too straight to cheer for Ankles Pierre.

Steve Janaszak's sister, the Conroys' sister-in-law, and Miss Minnesota could not all have been wrong.
It wasn't long ago that Neutron14, Slapshooter, Angus Young, and even BIAFP used to cheer for Ankles Pierre!

Hill Murray is up there but not above Eveleth, it doesn't matter that Eveleth won the state title 4 times in row over 50 years ago. With the names to come out of there and 7 state titles, they are above Hill Murray

The amazing part about Hill is the are able to build an awesome high school team without the help of of a youth program!!! they take all of the cast offs that never fit into the feeder systems that some think youth programs are ment to provide, and turn them into a cohesive winning team. Something many high school programs have failed at even with there own youth program. So maybe people should let kids be kids and enjoy there youth programs for what they are and not try to pick there high school team by how well someone does as a child.

finance_gal, you are being sarcastic right?? More like Hill raids the better players out of somebody elses youth systems. Hill can not be called a hockey program they would have be called a hockey program raider.
