Here's a little write-up from last night's game between Melrose and Cathedral.

After reading the SCtimes this morning, it looks like they covered the wrong game.

St. Cloud Apollo's Logan Birr threw a no-hitter last night recording 15 strikeouts...

Did you guys get a look at Minnetonka's new ballfield? It's wild. There's an article here.

It's entirely FieldTurf except for the mound and home plate... no dirt around the bases. Instead, they put down a reddish colored FieldTurf where the infield dirt would normally be. Check out the pictures here, and you should be able to get some pretty good looks at it. Also, if anybody cares, they're dedicating the new park on Saturday, and the game aginast Totino will be broadcast on CCS. I may actually go down there to check that thing out myself.

Now, I haven't actually played a game on FieldTurf, but I can't imagine that sliding into bases is any fun on this stuff, is it?

Cathedral mounted a 6-0 lead on a whole mess of errors by Paynesville. Cathedral made a couple errors as Paynesville shortened the lead to 6-3 in the top of the 7th.

Phil Imholte got the win for Cathedral.

Baseball rankings are always a bit goofy compared to other sports. Mankato West is a virtual tie for the Big Nine with the 3 Rochester schools, whom are all rated, and split the season series with all of them but they get no votes.

I am thinking about it. With two local teams (Grand Rapids and Greenway) down there, I should make the trip.
