this is kind of way off topic but can somebody fill me in on Nick Larson's decision on not playing hockey for the U? Is he done with hockey? He always struck me as a wierder one.

Also, what's happening with Mike Hoeffel?

Larson has indicated he taking a year off from all hockey and will see how things go. I'm not sure how likely it is that he comes back, but it is probably no better then 50-50. Hoeffel will play for the Gophers this year although he will miss at least the first month due to his knee injury rehabilitation.

According to the Pioneer Press, Hoeffel was cleared to play thie past week. As for Larson, there appears to be some disagreement between him and the Gopher staff. The coaches wanted him to play a year of juniors and he wanted no part of juniors, but instead decided to get his college education underway without playing hockey. Nick is a good kid who seems to ave his priorities in order. Best of luck to him

By stole, do you actually mean that through the freedom of choice we have in this country that he chose to go to a private school?

What's with Mounds View. They have at least 1 kid transfer each year. Joe Johnson and Logan Nugent to Roseville and Hill. Ryan Wolter to WBL this year. Mounds View had some decent teams back in the Bostrom days, and many before that. Maybe its the arena they play in. I had to go outside to warm up.

I don't know, did Lechner drive by in the middle of the night and grab the kid? It seems odd that he would do that. Woodbury and Stillwater are much closer...

Hey pioneers, I thought this was a thread about HM and some new players and now you and east hockey want to turn into a private vs public thread. Why does that always seem to happen in here?

That wasn't my intent here. Mnhockey accused my pioneers of stealing. Had to stick up for them :D

I don't follow Hill very close but I was very impressed with their players in the Elite league. Team Hill Murray (I mean NE) had a very impressive Elite season. They should be very strong in the nets and on defense along with a nice contingent of forwards. Don't think they need many additions to be competitive in their conference and section.

He didn't transfer because he wasn't good enough, and he realized that after spending a summer at their hockey program with all the other HM players.

H-M 2007-2008 Boys Varsity my predictions:

Forwards:
furne
cecka
singerhouse
westerhaus
kohls
zepeda
widing
french
prescott- no varsity game experience
cascalenda
metcalf
waksh-the only forward without any varsity experience

Defense:
Dolan
sova
stadler
johnson
kelly-no varsity experience
Casto-no varsity experience

Goalies:
Philipie
McGinily-no varsity experience

You honestly feel like they need any transfers. The first seven forwards have the abilitly to get forty points each, if not more. Even thought thats realisticly not possible, each of thouse top seven can. And as far as the defense goes, i was at the stat tournament like the rest of minnesota and defense is deffinitly their weakest spot. Not the players themselves but the team playing as a whole. And as far as goaltending its philipie it should be fine. But if they can countinue to devolpe the type of offense they can and play some more defense it could be a special season for the pioneers of hill-murray.
