Me too Shanty.

I was just in Galway Ireland a month or so back.
The Guiness tastes just as good there.

But I digress....

This sure seems to be a popular subject.
I wonder why...........

But I digress....

Back to the topic of Buckhorn.....

When I was back in college we could get it for a $1.99 a case with the returnable bottles.

I guess maybe we had a few..

The fine folks in KC are very proud of their Boulevard... it everywhere, including on tap at all of the stands at Kauffman Stadium - somethat that is sorely lacking at the roof covered stadium I'm sitting in at the moment.

We'll give it a few days to see what the field looks like, and then I'll start a poll and we'll narrow it down to the top 5-10 and we'll see which brew is tops among the fine Minnhock posters...of course you must be 21 to enter .

I'm not a big ale drinker, but while in Vancouver a couple of years ago I came across a brew with a name I couldn't resist.

Very good.

My favorite beer is the next one....... How can Honey Weiss be on the list? You need to put fruit in it to make it taste good.... That's not living the high life! Hey, that's my vote, Miller High Life.

Another blast from the past...Olympia. I recall they were quaffing it in large quantities at a local river during the early 70's smelt runs. We young kids ran off with what we could.

I drank it again when I was legal drinking age and it was horrible.

I remember watching people trying to cross rivers during smelting season after consuming large quantities of something.

How about beer bongs in college? That was an adventure and might be considered self-inflicted hazing.

My grandma use to drink Kingsbury beer............ISH!

The first store in Superior just over the Blatnick was the Hammond Lounge. They did and probably still do have the widest selection of economy brews; Northern, Hamms, Blatz, Olympia, Olympia Ice, Schaefer, Natural Light, and the crown jewel of them all, Red, White & Blue.

Back when I was in high school, part of the crowd I rolled with had an established tradition of loading up one of those big rolling refrigerators/coolers (like they have for displays at grocery stores) with Red White & Blue on the 4th of July, and laughing their rear ends off about it as they emptied it out... but I never had one.

To this day, I've never had a RW&B... are they that bad? Who makes it?

Straight answer is yes they are ...shall I say NOT GOOD...it's sad when the best in IS's line up is probably Blatz :( Olympia Ice  I tried once got about a swallow down...and said I'll take a drink instead thank you.

Pabst was the original brewer....Neither Pabst.com nor MillerBrewing.com (Miller has taken over most of Pabst's brewing operations) include the brand on their current rosters, and Red White & Blue Beer is presumed to be out of production.

Well, as long as we are reminiscing, how about throwin back a couple of cans of Stite Malt Liquor or , if available, Colt 45 Malt Liqour.

Got the job done quick.

Local brews

Yep T&T (Trader & Trapper) Moorhead circa 78-80 Friday happy hours 10 cent glasses or dollar pitchers of Colt 45

What more did a poor college kid need

The 45 headaches were the worse or maybe it was the everclear punch?

I have a 6'er of Caramel Bock in the fridge as we speak... tasty.

Anybody ever go to the Beer Fest at Calhoun Square? Great time and well worth the cost. The last one I went to was actually at the Minneapolis Convention Center - the final one held there - I'm guessing for a reason.

By the end of the night, every vendor in the place was emptied out, the last man standing were the boys from Stroh's, and all they had left was the Schlitz Malt Liquor (I think Stroh's was distributing it locally at the time). A quasi riot ensued and resulted in their buckets of ice being thrown around the convention center, and the crew working behind each booth throwing it back out at the crowd of people still left.

I was ok until I resorted to the malt liquor, and then that was all she wrote. Despite my begging and pleading with the guys I was with to just call it a night and go home, I was dragged out to the Wild Onion on Grand Ave., where I remained laying in the back seat while they went in. Eventually I managed to fall out of the car and wander to pay phone on Grand & Victoria to call my brother to come pick me up and get me home... I waited laying in some landscaping on the corner until he got there.

So again... Govs gives the City Pages Beer Fest 2 mugs up. Good times, good times.

People say water has magical properties because it can exist as a solid, liquid, or gas.

I've found that many, if not all of the brews listed above have those same magical properties if an outside agency, such as the human body can act upon those brews.
