As far as the QB situation goes, I side with my old HS coach who said "the only good thing about a sophomore is that one day he'll be a senior."

Young QB's just make me itchy, they look good, then they're pumping gas before they're 26.

I'll take the crusty old man who has bounced around and who is one hit away from retirement before the pup. I'm not saying I'm right but at that position mileage can supercede athleticism. There is a reason why these recycled guys survive as long as they do.

Denny was a disciple of that. Remember, he brought in Moon, Cunningham and George and tried to drag Marino out of retirement before he would give the job to Daunte.

If this team could have hung on to Daunte and Moss......

We have never seen such a great RB but we have never had such a lack of talent at WR and QB.

Don't forget Sean Salisbury's efforts in leading the "Indoorikings" to a cold late season victory at Denver in one of Denny's first seasons.

Denny should be hired just to find and evaluate old QB talent.

He said it, "they are who we thought they were". I believe him.

Well ,you have to believe him.

As it regards ole Sean boy, he is who we thought he was...a broadcaster.

Denny may not have given much thought to the defense but he had the right idea with the QB. Holcomb has looked a lot more confident than Jackson out there, it's time to see if he can do something in this offense.

I don't think Culpepper and Moss would be the answer to this team. Culpepper had one spectacular game this year for Oakland but hasn't done anything since and isn't even starting right now. Moss plays when he's interested and I don't see him having much interest if he were still here.

One thing that's kind of been lost under Peterson's incredible performance was the way the defense played on Sunday. Rivers looked terrible but a lot of credit has to go to the defense, they completely bottled up LT. If they can play like that next week they can beat Brett and the Packers.

Good observation Chris but , as it relates to the issue of Childress, where has that kind of defensive scheme been all year?

We know they can stop the run.They have 2 great tackles.

They are vulnerable vs the pass because they cant apply any pressure on the passer. They cant apply pressure becasue thay have no outside (DE) pass rushers.

But they dont do anything about it. They dont bring people. Their CBs arent that good and look worse trying to cover guys for 5 seconds. So, they sit back in their precious cover 2 and get picked apart.

Apparently Frazier turned them loose yesterday. Its about time.

Maybe Chilley is learning. Maybe.

Great point! He was available in the off-season but he would not have thrived in MN as he is now in NE because of our "offense" and coaching staff.

Coaching point of comparision - I lived in Cleveland when Belichick got his first head coaching job. There are many personal traits that Chilly is showing that Bill exhibited when he failed miserably in Cleveland and got run out of town. The only intangible difference I can put my finger on is there was a likeabilty, hard-ass demeanor that Belichick had about him that I do not get with Chilly. But maybe he is learning??

packerboy has it right about the quaterback and receivers. Need that real soon to help extend the usefulness of AP.

Just imagine if Chilly would/could have figured out what he had in AP BEFORE the trading deadline. Why not trade Taylor, a bonfide NFL starter, to some team desperate for a RB? Maybe WE could have fleeced somebody ala Herschel Walker. Ok, that's a stretch, but maybe we could have at least picked up a WR and/or a draft pick.

The guy is either stubborn or stupid. My guess is it's a little of both.

Well one thing's for sure... he doesn't have anything to do with player transactions. Rick Spielman does. Gotta blame him if you want to blame somebody.

Bad as a he may be, not everything falls on Childress' shoulders.

Petersen's emergence doesn't mean you can move Taylor. You need two RB's in this league. You can't have too much quality at this position.

At some point in time, they have to decide on an approach and stick with it.

A player like AP doesnt fall into your lap everyday. So, for a while, you can excuse his confusion about how to use him.

It took him too long and thats a problem.

Same with the pass defense. How many 3rd and longs did they have to give up before they tried bringing some people to rush the passer.

Hardly. They were asking for a ransom for him. If they were going to move him, they wanted to win big on the trade. He's gone after this year anyway, so why not get something for him?

Funny... the only time he goes above the 10's is after a win... even then he only goes into the 30's.
