You are right we all have our opinions. We don't happen to agree on the bashing of coaches but we both love this great game and probably would get along great talking about hockey topics. I just think we should limit the personal attacks on kids and coaches. We all know what your opinion is of the White Bear coaches but maybe we could try to keep this board a little less nasty. Just a thought.
Can't wait for the season and the enjoyment it will bring to all of us.

White Bear is a great program that has a great coaching staff period.
Almost all high school coaches do a good job for their kids. They work many hours and sacrifice a lot to do their jobs. We should all try to limit the assaults on coaches and kids in these forums. This is a great game that we all love so we should try to keep it above board.
I agree very much HOCKEY SCOUT. White Bear has a very prestigous program and I would feel that any parent or kid would feel proud to be a part of this program. Some people just dont realize how well they have it.

It is a great program that has a great tradition. I am lucky being able to watch many high school games in the suburban east each year. This conference is filled with great teams and great coaches. I am looking forward to seeing programs like Moundsview this year and of course some of the programs with new coaches will also be exciting to see.
I believe this conference is as close talent wise as it has been in many years. Some of the middle type teams will upset some of the top teams and the conference race will be close. I believe a team like Moundsview or stillwater could jump into the top 3 this year.

And I'm not a disgruntled parent or kid who was benched or cut by these people either. I just know that Sager can do better. I would take my high school coach (from White Bear) over Sager
any day.

I remember when Bill Butters was coaching at WB and the parents couldn't wait to get rid of him. I remember listening to parents bad mouth the guy about many issues. He was a great coach and a better human being.

It was
well before Butters' time. He was playing pro hockey then.

I had the opportunity to hear Butters speak one time. Seemed like a great guy with great stories.
People with torches and pitch forks were banging on the Edina ADs door a couple of years ago. They were trying to get rid of Curt Giles.

It has been fun but I must leave for the airport. I look forward to some good hockey talk this year.

Welcome back Hockey Scout. Keep posting. Your insight and analysis on East Metro hockey is right on the money and I for one look forward to your post game thoughts.
I agree with you on Sager, Nitti, the Butters family and the coaching in the WBL association in general. Top notch.

A world without controversy would make a pretty boring world.
Also, I'm not sure who you're referring to when you say "both of these coaches" because White Bear has four coaches. But it really shows Mr. Doug Long has a lot of respect in the "hockey" world when he is voted out of the Stillwater varsity hockey program a few years ago.
