well the post number is a different story....I have many more from a previous life...ask puckguy..however, the number of posts hardly makes you expert at anything other than not having much of a life..aka hshockeywatcher...

I will say that i have played in front of 80,000 people and know what it takes to do so...additionally, i have watched 1000's of hockey games and can pick out details about a player that many people miss...additionally I scout for one of the most major universities in the country and they trust me to judge talent so I cant be all that bad...although my sport has never been hockey I would say many sports parallel themselves when it comes to the evaluation of talent. Again, never said I knew everything..just saying I have opinion on everything.

I wouldn't try to prove your credibility by telling all about yourself, and bragging about yourself. You have probably, in many peoples mind, lost credibility with what you have said about yourself. Having your opinions is fine, however, by trying to tell people that you are more qualified to be the judge on a player you are just going to be ridiculed on this "bored".

I will not dispute anything you have said about yourself or on your take on any players. I have not seen them for myself, so I have no opinion. I am completely out of the loop as far as who's good, and who's not. I just moved back to MN after 2 long years in a state(Misery) where hockey is completely unknown. I must say it feels great to be back, and have the ability to watch HS Hockey once again.

I know I'm a newbie in posts, but as you said the number of posts doesn't make you and expert.

why the hostile attitude? Lamplighter, I for one could care less what you think of my posts as a matter of fact I could write a book on the number of times my opinion gets ripped on this 'bored' I only express an opinion and when that opinions validity is questioned I mention bullet points on why I think it is legit...then you rip my credentials and tell me I am a pompous a--. Both of you give it a rest. With your ego, HOFamer, I'm surprised there's room left in this topic for others.

I'm looking for any opinion you have. I like to hear peoples opinions on players and teams. I never said you were wrong, about any of them, and i didn't rip your credentials. I just don't understand why you have to be "Tooting your own horn" about your qualifications. I didn't mean anything hostile by it. I considered it more of a tip to you. You will get ridiculed more by posting about your own personal qualifications than you will on your opinions.

Actually because of your post about the Buffalo defensemen, I am looking forward to a chance to see him play. I think your answer was very legit the way it was. The majority of your posts that i have seen, have been good.

To quote the latest espn commercials...
"Take it easy here chief, No need to prove your fanhood to us."

"Your fanhood need questioning"

5-hole [Dangle-show] whatever you want to call yourself. Quit bickering with other posters. If you want to do that go to the cafe and leave the thread as it was intended. Lamp lighter don't follow the ginger ways.

The scrimmages that Brainerd was in this past weekend were just scrimmages. The coaches were looking at players, not trying to win or prove anything. One thing that I saw was Brainerd has speed. They looked a little sloppy but I think some of the players were trying to prove themselves to the coaches by carrying the puck rather than making plays.
This coming weekend in Moorhead will be a good test.

you couldn't be more right. The first week scrimmages are more to see forwards 7 through 15 compete for the final six forward spots. Like you said after Moorhead this saturday, it will be much easier to see how this years squad will look

Brainerd vs. Blaine Scrimmage

Blaine outplayed Brainerd Overall. However, it was close.

Summary of the Brainerd Warriors

Forwards

1st Line: (Shepherd, Frazier, Tamasy)
Worked puck well down low in the offensive zone, could've used Defensemen more. Several Good scoring chances. Defensive zone play was good as well. Real solid line. Majority of teams goals will have to come to this line.

2nd Line: (Monda, Westman, Engel)
Good Speed, potential is there, just need to work better together. Defensive zone play was solid. Could put some goals on the board throughout the year if they can gel as a line.

3rd Line: (Kaufmann, Jenkins, Smith)
Small quick line, players worked well together. Several scoring chances, need to bury them. A little weak in the defensive zone.

4th Line: (Lober/Burchill, Posch, Mimmack)
Potential is there again, A little slow for the varsity level.

Offense will need to find some balance and learn to bury chances. Could be a long season if they do not.

Defenseman

Olson, Korte, Rinio, Halvorson, Swanson, Monda, Rusk, Ring

Defense had a few mistakes, not a lot of offense will come from the D. I didn't notice pairings. Was more focused on the offensive lines. No standouts.

Goaltending

Peterson/Mimmack:
Both looked shaky on some shots, and solid on others. I would give a slight edge to the Sophomore Mimmack. However, It was only one scrimmage.

Goaltending will be a question mark for this team. One of the two has to step up.

Special Teams

Powerplay:
Weak. I'm not a fan of the setup. Needs work.

Penalty Kill:
Mainly sophomore's ran it. I would doubt it would be this way for the regular season. Didn't look that bad though.

Overall

Team looked pretty good as a whole. Strong skating team, a lot of speed. Chances were there but goal scorers must be found. Defenseman will be a huge key to this teams success as they will need to aid in the offense as well as helping out the goaltenders. Will be an interesting year.

Good Luck Warriors.[/b]

I just got released so I've been out of the loop for awhile but...

What's the story on this Wessman kid, I thought he played for Pequot, err... Northern Lakes Lightning, last year and still has siblings in that district. Todd Selk better've made sure allz the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed on his transfer papers. I'll bet he spends more nights on Pelican Lake then that apartment in Brainerd

From what I here the goalie situation is a little shaky unless someone can wake Peterson up from his sleep-walk.

1st line solid as long as Shepherd & Frazer can get along.

2nd line adequate if eligible.

3rd line inexperienced and unknown?

I'll be interesting to see how this thing plays out

Shepard scores game winner in OT as the Warriors take one from Alexandria 5 - 4 in OT. Alex had tied it up late in regulation to force the extra period. Shots were 46 to 28 in favor of BRD.

I watched the Brainerd vs Alex game tonight, and I have never seen such a bad Brainerd team. Terrible defense, gives up 4 goals to a young completly undersized team, not to mention the goalie got beat on the weakest wrap around I have ever seen. Brainerd finishes 3rd in the CLC, and gets seed 5 in Section 8AA if they are lucky.....

M0 wouldn't recommend that, M0 cant think of anyplace you are more hated other than at a Duluth East pep fest. Judging from the signs displayed last time the chickens went there, you and GR19 should be sharing health benefits. But as long as you pay to get in, (M0 heard you don't like that) they will welcome you in your most unfavorite venue so you can make excuses after the loss about your star that had an owwie. I just hope its Bel0w Zer0 and yer dogsled wont start.

Wessman, played bantams in Brainerd 2 years ago. Came back from a year up in Pequot. I'm assuming his transfer papers are all complete and he's good to go. He won't be much of a factor anyways, but he's another skater, on a weak team.

Tonight at Alexandria.

1st Line (also top PP unit) (Shepherd, Frazier, Tamasy)
Very inconsistent. Puck movement was weak, and defense wasn't good. Nice play for the game winner, lucky PP goal. On ice for 2 of Alex's goals.

2nd Line (Wessman, Engel, Kaufmann)
Not good. More of a 3rd or 4th line performance. Must step it up. On ice for 2 Alex Goals.

3rd Line (T. Monda, Jenkins, Smith)
Most consistent line all night. Looked good. Finished the night with a +2 rating. Smith, Monda each with goal.

Defense...
Shaky. Several mistakes. Good teams will capitalize. Need to shore that up immediately.

Goaltending.
Kyle Peterson gets the start.
Looked Shaky on several saves, I question how much he played the puck out of the net, got lucky a couple times. Not sure what he was doing on the wraparound for the game-tying goal.

Overall...
Puck skills look weak, passing was not crisp, didn't play as a team. Lines were not clicking. Lucky to come away with a win in this game. Pull it together soon boys, or its gonna be a long season.

Do you say ALEC or ALEX?

Are you freakin sure? That is one heckuva interpretation of a teams first game. Looks like the barnyard controversy 56401 is in full force.

Might M0 suggest ice fishin'? Trust M0, the ice is safe.

I may have jumped to the conclusion that this is going to be a long season a little too early M0. But that was NOT a promising start against a YOUNG alex team.

Here's the breakdown by class of players that saw ice time last night.

Seniors: 9 (Alex only had 4 on roster)
Shepherd(W), Frazier(C), T. Monda(W), Engel(C), Korte(D), Swanson(D), Olson(D), Impola(D), Peterson(G)

Juniors: 4
Tamasy(W), Wessman(W), Kaufmann(W), Ring(D)

Sophomores: 3
Jenkins(C), Smith(W), Rusk(D)

As you can see, this is not a young Brainerd team. So the whole "It's a Young Team" excuse isn't happening for me. Brainerd does the same thing every year, start strong and fade towards the playoffs. That trend scares me, especially with the way this season started last night. This is the reason why i'm not high on this team doing anything. Especially with the non-conference schedule they play this year.

The coaches will have their work cut out for them this season to get if they hope to compete for a Section or even Conference Title.

Guys Relax it was only the first game. They will play 25 more. Give them time to adjust,[ new lines, systems, players etc.] Bright spots? yes, 2 sophmores had points. Dark spots? defence maybe, goaltending yes. I believe they will play better as the year goes on.

Well.... it didn't sound good on the radio...but we should enjoy it as it may be the last season. Word on the street is that hockey is definately on the chopping block since the referendum failure. That will be tough for alot of players..
