See! It's a movement... it's building.
What kind of movement? Well...
I heard that Johnson has found a loop hole in the MSHL rule book that is going to allow them to bring back Pogreba to play with them. That should give them just the boost they need.
Greg or Shawn? We'll take Shawn... Greg's doing enough damage to the team as an assistant coach now!

Shawn. They are also looking into the rule also allowing Mike Lyons to return.

Is Barney Rubbleke going to return to Johnson next year?

If roseville and wht bear finish as they are how do you seed the section. Roseville #2 or WB #2? I know looking at their non conference records it looks like wht bear has played a tougher schedule. Should the bears then be seeded higher

No... and while that's kind of funny - save it until next season. We'll still call him Joe til he bolts for the Polars. At that point, Barney will be fine.

I am pretty sure H-M will be the #2 seed. Roseville and WB will be fighting for the #3 seed.
As indicated earlier Johnson will pretty much have the #1 seed wrapped up after the win over Como.

As I'm sure you're aware, on the Eastside, we have more than enough for everybody.
And by the way, Neut... I'm offering you the rare opportunity as an outsider to pick the most comfortable seat now:

I, like Govs93, would prefer a Johnson vs H-M final. Let the real powers that be have a shot at state..
Tartan hear by forfeits all section play (the only chance Hill has to meet the Governers in the final)

Well with Tartan out of the way, the only thing holding Hill's section final appearance up would be NSP. They've done Hill in before...

NSP did beat Hill in '05 Section QF's, but I can't see that happening again this season. Major difference in talent although NSP still has Tom Horner who I think is much better than Phillipi. Joe Phillipi is overrated. I do think North St. Paul & Como will play each other in the 8/9 game but the Polars will be the #8 seed because they did beat Como 1-0 in December and Como has not played anybody.

Am I correct in assuming that this is the same Tom Horner who has given up 25 goals to HM in two games this year? He's not a bad goalie, but to say he is much better than Philippi is a bit much.

He faced a
lot of shots in those 2 games. The first game was 11-3 and it would have been 20-3 if it wasn't for Tom. The 14-0 game he came out after it was 9-0. Phillipi only faced 13 shots and 16 against Tartan in the next game. He didn't make a tough save in either game.

I think Roseville & White Bear Lake still have seeding to play for. (2 & 3) The rest should be almost wrapped by now, Mounds View with their victory over Tartan has put them in a good position to get a #5 seed and a quarterfinal game with Stillwater. Johnson realistically should be a #7 seed. As I said earlier it should be NSP & Como in the play-in game but NSP should be the home team & last line change because they did beat Como and the Cougars really have not played any tough competition. Roseville & White Bear will be a great game in the section semis and I hope the winner of that game can knock off Hill Murray in the section championship game. Hill should have it pretty easy their first 2 games.

I agree with what you have to say about the seedings but dont get to far ahead of yourself as far as who will be in the section championship. Realistically, yes hill, wbl, and roseville have the best teams on paper but stillwater, mv, and tartan have all had games where they have given good teams trouble and in some cases beaten them. Its sections and anything can happen, anything.

You have to remember that Mounds View also beat Stillwater 2-0 on Jan. 24th.

Stillwater beat Mounds View 5-3 @ St. Croix Rec & Mounds View won 2-0 @ Shoreview. If that is the 4 vs. 5 matchup, it should be a good one. This would be the rubber game to decide who faces Hill Murray (unless they get upset in quarterfinals) & who goes home.

When North St. Paul & Hill Murray played each other in the Section QF's in 2005, was it Philippi that started for Hill as a freshman?
Posted: Sun Feb 10, 2008 8:43 pm

Yes, Philippi was in goal as a freshman when Hill lost to North in 2005. Hill went through like four goaltenders that season and none of them were very good. Philippi played OK in the section game, but nothing special.
