This kid is a great player but that was not a great play. It looked pretty but my question is why would you cut to the middle of the ice when he could've taken it wide. Those are the types of decisions you see from gopher hockey players and we all know how well they are doing.
My question is Will Aaron fit in with the gophers next year or will he help. Making those types of decisions he might just fit in.

I have seen this kid play a lot and he is not a selfish player. But playing stupid in easy games creates bad habits that get exploited at the next level.

And what year did you retire from your career in the NHL?

Aaron was the best playmaker at state last year, his ability to break his team out was unreal, in fact most hockey people would agree he could have carried the puck even more but dished it off almost to a fault. So from one clip in one game we can determine he is now selfish? Get real, the kid did it because he could, seems a lot can be gleaned fron a 10 second clip.

The only thing pathetic is you Cabela10. After watching a grand total of 25 seconds of Aaron Ness's season you've got the balls to say he's a hot dog and a selfish player. It's obvious you've not seen him play, because if you had you'd know he's not selfish. He leads the Rams with 36 assists this season. You might want to try thinking before you write on these boards next time.

hahahaha, I dare him to actually try that against a good team like Edina. He will get his ass knocked down and set in his place. Honestly, did you guys see the St. Cloud guys falling over on their own and the defensemen's very weak effort to stop him.

I said I have seen him play a lot and he is not a selfish player. He is great but not taking that puck wide the first time and being forced to circle back is a stupid play. You don't need to play in the NHL to know that. Especially if he was trying to kill a penalty. he should have carried it in wide to make sure it goes deep or he can get a rush to the net. Bad choices will affect him at the next level. 22 year old freshmen are not going to let him skate circles in the neutral zone.

Since you know nothing about me you have no idea what my background is and you wouldn't believe me if I told you anyway. You know what they say happens when you assume.

I'm sure if the opportunity arises, he will make his mark - and a beautiful play at the same time.

What else is there, it's the most obvious thing. It's not like you can blame them though, they shouldn't drive over 350+ miles just to play a game. There section to get to the state tournament could be a little more difficult though.

Pathetic opponents allows a player to be a hot dog and look selfish. I bet he has done this type of play more than just once.

I don't see what the big deal is. Aaron genuflect Ness was having a little fun. Big deal. The play he made could be made by many players, and I'm sure he's made many, many better plays than this. The forward he went against looked dead tired and the defense screwed up.

Move on.

Aaron Ness- 22 games played, 20 goals, 36 assists. Everyone knows Roseau doesn't play as tough of a schedule as other teams in the state, but that didn't stop them last year, or the 6 other times they won the championship.

He had opportunities to pass the puck and didn't?? Herbies for Ness!!!

How are all of his less-skilled teammates supposed to not die of low self esteem if he isn't passing to them every chance he gets? I mean what does it matter if a team's best play maker can easily hang on to the puck until a teammate gets open in a better position be given a pass? Doesn't he know about the quota that everyone gets to carry the puck as much as everyone else? Equal rights and all...

I agree a little bit with the comments about developing bad habits. But then I'm not terribly worried about that. There's a balance between always making the "smart" play (carrying it wide, get rid of the puck ealry, etc.) and just letting a skilled player create out on the ice. This is how the most skilled players become who they are. I guarantee you none of the world's best play makers and puck handlers grew up making the "right play" at all times.

A great player made a play. Thats what they do.

I bet when a scout watches this play... He won't see a selfish play, but he will see that it was impressive vision.

Ness knew he was stopped the first time he went in the zone, knew he had space to circle back, and took it. He didn't feel any pressure to get rid of the puck, had some speed SAW the defense flat footed, and went around them and scored.

Great player, Great team. All of you metro lovers, give Ness and Roseau some credit. They've certainly earned it.

I think instead of criticizing Ness on this play I,d rather criticize Tech players for not taking the body and getting mesmerized. I,d take Ness on my team any day and all yous criticizing would as well.

i think this goal just made the d look foolish. Try to Remember that THE GOAL WAS SHORTHANDED. Just cause ness has the skill to get that goal doesnt mean he should be criticized

Why is everyone getting so bent out of shape about this one play? His team was only up 3-1 at the time and on the penalty kill. Let's say he passes it to one of his teammates or dumps it in. Then Tech makes a play to get into the Ram end and scores...3-2 now. Huh, probably should've skated it in and got a shot off. I like how some guys say they haven't even seen him play. Then how can you have anything to say? He is by far the best player in the state of Minnesota and will be playing for the U next year then playing in the NHL, so you better get used to this kid.

Wow. Not really. Nothing amazing about that goal. I stayed away from this thread until I read yet another article about Ness. This time in the Star Trib. Yes, we all know he's talented, yes, he has a future in hockey. Enough already. Bring this up in 10 years so we know how it all turned out. He's not the greatest yet, just another kid with potential.
