Scott Loberg=best defenseman in section 1a, he deserves more credit but he played for La Crescent so the credit wasn't there

fan2007 wrote:BSU, you say they (Lourdes) controled Lapic and Ambroz? First, Lapic left in the first and did not return. Second, Lapic is a Junior and Ambroz is a Freshman. Livermann and Litchfield are Seinors and a little more experienced and determined. Third, Litchfield is the most prolific scorer (led the state) and Lieverman would have been the leading scorer in the state but he missed 5 games. So, while controlling Lapic and Ambroz is nice, it is not quite like controling Corey and Ricky now is it? I think West controled NP this year as well to the tune of 7-1.
And by the way, Royce is not overrated. To be overrated, I think he would have to be signed by a D1 school and playing with a USHL team now. He is a very good player who will play at a high level next season. Maybe not as a dominating player, but he is a player that would help many teams in the Jr A ranks.
Litchfield led what state in scoring? Check your facts.

Some people would like to say just because Lourdes beat West in Wests place, that they should win this game. but there's two things in West's favor this time around
1. they do have Bruggeman and Deopere back this game with Leivermann on a roll again.
2. they just won probably the biggest game of their life (beating huge rival albert lea in playoffs) which gives them a ton of momentum.
i got west in this one they same way they beat albert lea. 5-2 EN

Lourdes will win this game if they dont allow shots on net cause scudamore is shakey... If West gets lots of shots on net I think West will win
Lourdes- 4
West- 3

fat chance of that happening. west will get many shots on goal as they normally do. he will have to "stand on his head" to beat west.

I was in attendance at the games on Saturday and I have to say that after watching Lourdes play New Prague and Mankato West play Albert Lea; the section championship game is going to be a close one or two goal game. Neither team is going to have it easy and blow the other team out.
I think Lourdes is going to win the game by 1-2 goals. They have a more balanced team and have more than just 3 players that can score for them. I only noticed 3 players from Mankato West that looked dangerous and it was #'s 11, 14, 7. Those guys can skate so you have to keep a closer eye on them but honestly nobody else impressed me from Mankato West. I've heard that their goalie is good but he was not tested on Saturday at all by Albert Lea.
Lourdes will put alot of shots on Mankato West just like they did the first time they played so their goalie will be tested on Thursday night. It's a matter of making their shots count more though. Corners need to be picked and plays need to be finished. Against New Prague alot of shots went right into the goaltender or didn't even get through to the net. A little more bearing down on some shots and that would have easily been a 3-4 goal win.
Lourdes will win because they are 1) more balanced on offense and defense-they have more skill on average than Mankato does 2) they are faster than Mankato and their are 5-6 players that can hurt you instead of just 2-3 and lastly 3) the game is in Rochester.

Lourdes having last change will be big, they need to keep Spratte out against West's big line. Lourdes has a couple of below average defensemen and even a short benched New Prague got them turned around a couple of times, West's speed will put a lot of pressure on them. If Lourdes can get the lead they can afford to drop a defenseman back to neutralize West, if they get down Scudamore will have to be very sharp.
Usually players win games but there will be a lot of strategy used in this game. Both team will have to pick their poison and hope things work out. Just a hunch but I think West will come out flying and if they get up by 2 early Lourdes will be in trouble, if they don't they may be in trouble.

EXACTLY!! NOONE accept AL(2) lourdes(1) and NP(1) at the very beginning of the season when they wernt playing good. that equals 4 quality games. and everyone thinks they are amazing

Lourdes didn't exactly play the cream of the crop lately either...Chisago Lakes, Simley, Faribault, Owatonna, Totino, Mound, Marshall, Mankato East, etc. Don't give me Blake as Owatonna beat them or Breck as they were beaten by the Saints.

If Scudamore has an off night and gives up a softie or two - which he certainly can do - the Scarlets will be going to St. Paul.
West has a most consistent goalie and a deeper corp of quick, skilled forwards to put pressure on Lourdes defense.
Mankato West 5
Lourdes 3

Hey Flat, why are these stats incorrect? I think you need to check your stats. Like it or not, West will be dancing.

I don't think I would say 7, 11, and 14 are the only goal scorers on the team, 27 can score, 6 has been hot as of lately and idk if you saw 41's snipe against AL but they got a few other guys that can make some nice plays at the right times. Not to mention 2 has a rocket from the point and 3 is pretty good with placeing his shot.

i agree with this, except i think it will be a 1 or 2 goal game. West 3 Lourdes 2

Anyone picking West to be held to less than 3 goals needs to get their head examined. Lourdes has its strengths, but Defense and goaltending are not one of them (they are o.k. but not as good as their offense). If Lourdes finds a way to win it will be in a high scoring barn burner. I like both teams, but as I said before, it is West's year.

Mankato West is playing as well as anyone in the state at the class A level. They were just flying around the rink against AL. They were moving the puck so well it was rediculous. I have to go with this:
MW 5
RL 3
"The Man The Player The Leivermann!!"

first off they have played at least 5 quality opponents, and just because they do not play teams like Roseau or Edina does not mean they arn't good, you'll be eating your words when you see West at the X and winning games at the X.
