LDC, please

Should be an intense final.
Both schools have some loyal backing. Long-time rival and not a fan of NU, but respect their passion for their sports. I've been to a couple games in Litch and was amazed at the craziness up there, especially when Willmar comes to town.
Goaltending will be huge in this game. NU will put on more shots, but Litch has the better goalie. Will that be enough to win them the game? Who knows. NU knows it has to limit shots on it's goalie, and they have done a nice job of that during this run of theirs.
Is Adams out for this game? If so, that really hurts LDC.
Neither squad will quit, I really think it will come down to the last half of the third period. NU is strong physically and will keep coming. Litch played some of their best hockey late in the semis against Hutch when they needed some huge kills. Anyone who thinks a whole lot seperates these two teams is crazy. I gotta go 4-3 Litch, with the winner coming in the last 5 minutes.
Will be a big boost to the program that does move on. Yep, they'll take crap all week up there, but block it out. Enjoy the opportunity and play your tail off. The teams in 3A didn't make the rules, they just play by 'em.

No offense guys but whoever wins won't go too deep in the tourney. This is a very weak section. Litchfield??? New Ulm??? Come on now. Litch's wins over mound was when mound played their backup. No matter who wins they will go two and out at the state tourney.

Of course it is a weak section. It was designed that way. MSHL re-drew the section lines to make them more competitive within the section, not necessarily to make the section competitive with other sections. Look at what section 1A used to be. Rochester Lourdes beat the piss out of everybody in the section year after year (except I think one year New Ulm gave them a run for their money, eventually loosing in double overtime in the section championship, but that was the exception). Whether or not you think what they did was right, MSHL accomplished what they intended. They made both 3A and 1A more competitive within each section.

Yes,, I agree,, section 3A might be a weaker section,, but at least the teams in it are more equal... The MSHL did the correct thing,,, what the heck when 1 of the teams from Section 3A get to State,, it will still be good to see a "underdog" play... We all like to see the underdog beat the team that's expected to win! Look at the Giants this year!...

I played in that game.....
Well, back then Litchfield and New Ulm were in the same conference, so we played a home and home series. New Ulm Swept in 1995 (well 94-95 season).
New Ulm's record that season was 22-3 at years end and 8-0 conference record. If I remember correctly the "game in question" NU won 4-1 and it was in Litchfield.
NU was ranked 2nd in the state, but was upset in the sections by Mankato West who NU beat 2 weeks prior 17 to 1 in Mankato. This was the season that a Mankato West player very unfortunately died in the "meningitis outbreak" that occurred in Mankato. They rode emotion into NU and won 2 to 1, while the goaltender turned away over 50 NU shots.

Larson sure could put the puck home.
Trivia Question:
Who was the only player in MN High School hockey to score more goals in the 94-95 Hockey Season than Dayton Larson?
(Hint: it happened on the final day of the season and this player needed a Hat Trick to over take Larson for the Scoring Champ on the season.)

Dave Spahr (I think that is right spelling?)
Second the 94-95' season they only went 19 and 3 being the you could only play 21 regular season games at the time, and they lost first round in playoffs to West. New Ulm's best season was 01-02' when they went 20 and 5 losing three to #1 ranked Lourdes and one to the eventual state champs Totino Grace.
Third Larson could put the puck in the net (in the regular season) but that was it. Hence why he never went anywhere and in his career of goal scoring he only found the basket once or twice in playoffs.
Next time facts would be good to back up the claims

ovechkinrules just go somewhere else. it sounds like litch played the game well and did what they needed to do to win. its not there fault which section they are put in. i think its great even tho they will probably get beat first round who cares. or maybe being the underdog mite pump them up and they just mite find a way to win one or two. all i say is congrats to litchfield

That's Dave Spehar. It is very upsetting to see that name slaughtered so badly.

The bottom line is that NU can't score enough goals to represent 3A at the dance. In the last two weeks you were only able to put 4 goals against Redwood, and 4 goals against Fairmont. Maybe NU needs to start having a little respect for their opponents.(or anyone for that matter) Or maybe Fairmont and Redwood are getting better?

If thats all you can do against those two teams than your not going to beat a team like Litchfield.

I just feel bad for all the good teams that were put in good sections and didn't make it to state.

16 goals against Marshall in two games isn't good?

i was at the game, after watching new ulm play I had to wonder how they got the 1 seed. They didnt impress me at all. No goaltending, and a team that couldnt put the puck in the net.
