Now that the teams are picked and we are two days from the start, who wins. If sect. 2 plays unselfish hockey, I cant see anyone beating that line-up.

Really, what does the line-up look like?

Merritt was the only one of those names that tried out. Rumor has it they only accepted kids that played minimum of JV. No Bantams. Another unconfirmed rumor in GR is that the baseball coach "suggested" the others didn't try out so they could focus on baseball. The tryouts were competitve, but it's a little disappointing when most or all from Virginia and Hibbing were rubber stamped. You would have had to have seen the tryouts to get the full picture. There was definitely some obvious cuts, and some obvious shoe-ins, but it once again appears that it's who you know. The last thing you want to hear heading into a tryout is an evaluator telling another evaluator they were to "head upstairs and pretend like we're actually evaluating". Makes you sort of wonder when you see the results. Not the end of the world for any of the deserving kids who were let go. Just another life lesson about honesty(and where not to spend your money). Ever forward.

whoever said this is obviously a parent whos son didnt make it or a player who didnt make it...there was no shoe ins they took the best kids there and thats that.

Wow thats I got to say, 1 Warroad kid and 1 Bemidji kid. and 6 Roseau kids and 6 Moorhead kids. I thought section 8 had better players then this.

deserving players

3 of the Roseau players are deserving to be on the team. The other 3 are just fill-ins and Mom/Dad have $$$$ in the checkbook.

Remember, the team needs 18 players, so if someone declines to play, they just go down the list until they have the $$$$ from the parents, and they are on the team.

$$$$ may be the reason some don't try out, but no fill-ins with this group. Selected from the group that participated. 8)

Portner quick? Portner does not have decent hands, and is not a great skater, he did not deserve to be on the team.

giving the appearance of dishonesty?, yes, some of you gr people know all about it. refer to last years select 15.
there were almost 50 skaters there and 6 tenders. im happy i didnt have to make the descions. to bad there are posters that try to shed negatives about the tryout and staff because they figure there was not the right players picked. i didnt hear whining about last years 15s. i wonder why? we dont need any body casting dispuraging remarks about rumors here and rubber stamps. you got some nerve. get your info right before stating frigging crap like. "most or all from Virginia and Hibbing were rubber stamped. You would have had to have seen the tryouts to get the full picture" "what a frigging crock." and then this statement-
"again appears that it's who you know. The last thing you want to hear heading into a tryout is an evaluator telling another evaluator they were to "head upstairs and pretend like we're actually evaluating". Makes you sort of wonder when you see the results".

i challenge you to prove that last statement

every player that made that team deserved it, no ifs ands or buts about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

is that why the hibbing goalie got lit up all day long and the cambirdge goalie rarly let one in? i would have taken the greenway or east kid over hibbings goalie during that tryout anyday

Listen now fellas. You do know that the proccess of Minn/USA Hockey evaluation is ongoing and a yeararound operation. OK Hear this about trhat hibbing goalie. He played Outstanding just to help Hibbing reach a 3 or 4 seed to the district tourney. Well, dont you know he (Nathan Tromp) and his teamates went and won the district (IR) tournament. Beating some very good teams to advance. Tromp played spectacular along with his teamates. There is more here to tell.
when this team went down for the region tourney they were "hellbent"

They played GR, Centenial, and Duluth East. Any i dea what happened.?

Well , Tromp had an unGodly amount of saves that weekend. 150 to 200 in them 3 games, And he/they beat GR, hung in and challengde either east or centenial. and the 3rd game was a blow out at the end but Tromp "stood on his head"as he did the previous 2 games.. you should have seen it. It was something! He gave his team a chance to win many, many games this past season, And i am sure many MinnHockey officials were aware of that .

So , maybe that will shed some light on this subject.

Remmember to work hard and play your best all year long because, ? Well YOU know Why? Dont Ya?
So what would the point of a tryout be? if they judge you on your season? hopefully i can get a decent answer out of that.

they judge on the combination of numorous factors. the point is "if you dont have the correct info and understanding, don't be shooting of your mouth because it may magnify your ignorance"

All i have to say is Portner sucks, he is so bad, he is a little baby that should be playing for the Andover lawn bowling team. He is small, has no hands, cries(hes 16 for cripes sake) slow, and when other kids scores it looks like he did with his gay celebration. Believe me i could go on and on but im getting to worked up looking at this page, all i got to say is wow portner wow.

I agree 100%. This kid is willing to rely on daddy to get him onto teams and into summer programs. He clealy doesn't work for anything which is easy to tell by watching him for 10 minutes. By some odd chance he did make the 54s, but that's exactly what it was, some weird miracle.

Is that a joke? Portner was horrible. If you saw him in the games in Plymoth you would see he was bad. You get a penalty shot for every penalty. the first one he went up and missed the puck. the second he missed the net, and on the third he tried to go tweener and missed the net. Eckman owns portner.
