Okay, thanks for the info. The online roster listed him as a 9th grader.Joey (nine toes) Marcoux wrote:Mr. Teak---Adam Skala is not a freshman for Red Lake Falls. He is a senior.

Nice compilation Teak. I'm new here and you really put in the time... very cool. Are you going to post a defenseman list too?Teak wrote:Top-scoring freshmen as of the data posted today (9 Jan). A few games might not be in the online database yet.

If you know of any frosh who has a big game points-wise, please let me know. There are a bunch at 7 and 6 points, and one big game drives them up the list.
If you look at earlier posts, I put out a list of freshmen of influence by position: forwards, defense, goalies. Now I am just updating the list for top-scorers. There are a few defensemen in this list: e.g., Garret Schmitz, Mike Reilly and Nick Auman.polverine wrote:Nice compilation Teak. I'm new here and you really put in the time... very cool. Thanks for the heads up on this one. Yeah, their stats guy must be sleeping on the job some because I only see six games posted. Gassert played in three of those, with 5 goals and 1 assist. Still, he is #3 in points on the squad for only playing 3/6 of the games.bigpoppababy wrote:Moose lake has a freshman making a statement this year, Chris Gassert has approx. 10 points (probably more but no stat people). He is becoming a major influence on the team, and reason for their great start. Looking forward to seeing him play the next 3 years!!
Yeah, I listened to that game on MSN network. It sounded like the most intense game yet this year through the first two periods. BSM had 16 penalty minutes in periods 1-2 and Minnetonka had 8 minutes. And then, the third period was penalty-less! It was the classic back-and-forth. BSM scored first and 'Tonka replied each time except for the final goal. The crowd was also quite loud which makes for a greater atmosphere. High school girls squealing....yah ba-by!MNHockeyFan wrote:Christian Horn just boosted his standing last night by scoring two big goals and leading BSM to a 4-3 win over Minnetonka.
Yes sir. He is up near the top of the list for freshmen of influence. Data through yesterday (15 January).matthebat wrote:Sam Coborn from Park Rapids has 21 points 11 goals 10 assists in 15 games played and he has +5 for +/- he is going to be a good player

Chris Gassert of Moose Lake has six points (5-1) in four games. Although his team has played 11 times, only the data for 7 have been posted.
The real scary talents are Boyd, Young, Horn, and Reilly; all putting up significant numbers at major schools. Just freshmen.
Yeah, I saw that. I am going to update this weekend so expect him to make the largest jump this week. Now 7 goals, 8 assists in 14 games.hockeyjunkie2 wrote: A.J. Michaelson - Apple Valley 13-4-7 (#3)

You might want to add AJ Michaelson to your SCARY list. Played his first game at center..his natural position vs Eastview. I highly doubt any 9th grader will have a game like he had. He's got everything...big time size and speed. Will probably get to 6'3 or 6'4. I'd be interested to hear what an Eastview fan thought of that game.Teak wrote:Yeah, I saw that. Some other frosh had big games Tuesday night:
Christian Horn, BSM, 2g-1a (gwg) (BSM 3-2 over Hill)
Eric Carlson, Albert Lea, 2g (AL 10-2 Mankato East)
Mike Reilly, AHA, 3a (AHA 13-1 Shakopee)
Nate Arentz, Lakeville North, 1g-1a (LN 8-1 Bloomington Kennedy)
Sam Coburn, Park Rapids, 1g-2a, (PR 3-3 No. Lakes)
Garret Schmitz, RLFalls, 1g-1a (9-5 LOSS to E. Grand Forks)
I hadn't heard of Skjei. Nate Arentz of Lakeville North is listed as a freshman, and he is the one we've been tracking. He has 7 goals in 16 games so far, might be more; going to update today.Hoops wrote:You might want to add AJ Michaelson to your SCARY list. Also Brady Skjei is a pretty good 9th grade defensmen for Lakeville North.
Boyd also shredded Edina's defense late in the third and couldn't quite put the goal in, but he was amazing.Teak wrote:A.J. Michaelson of Apple Valley with another big game today: 1g 2a in AV's 5-3 win over Rosemount.
Travis Boyd also had an important goal in Hopkin's 4-3 OT win over #1 Edina. Won the puck in the corner, skated behind the net and around out front and stuffed it in past Ankeny. Pretty impressive. Number 17 of the season for Boyd.
Michealson is really starting to feel more comfortable. Can't wait for the next three years he has a bright future ahead of him.Teak wrote:A.J. Michaelson of Apple Valley with another big game today: 1g 2a in AV's 5-3 win over Rosemount.
