I agree with your asseessment about Mattson and he didn't control the game like Lee and Everson did for Edina.Tigers33 wrote:I agree with you sicksauce. I never seen a top team play 5 forwards on their first power play line. Somehow you must have the confidence to put a defenseman out there. I understand having 4 forwards and 1 defenseman, but not 5 forwards. I think this really cost them.
As far as the freshman out on the ice...That is definitely a kid I would remember, because I bet he ends up playing college hockey. The kid showed great patience for a frehsman. I never really saw him panic all that much. I think this shows how weak the defenseman are for AHA.
Another thing about this game...I was not at all impressed with Mattson. I really expected him to go out and do more in a game like that. It appeared to me he was always looking to make the pass, instead of doing things himself. The thing that confused me was he would always skate off very tired, but it didnt seem like he did much on those shifts. Maybe he was sick or something. Anyone with an unbiased opinion share their thoughts about Mattson's performance?
I was more impressed with Jefferson and Tonka then Edina. Thursday will be interesting!!
33, you game replays are always worth the price of admission. Everson was not sick, nor was Mattson or Lee, and your details on Lee which seems to be the only player you only watch are comical? Lee was by far the most physical player on the ice Saturday, and the penalties due to not moving his feet, priceless.... Its ok to root for your guy, just don't look so stupid and assume this game was played in Quebec and you were the only one there.scoreboard33 wrote:I agree with your asseessment about Mattson and he didn't control the game like Lee and Everson did for Edina.Tigers33 wrote:I agree with you sicksauce. I heard at the game that Everson was sick but didn't really see it in his play.
Both Lee and Mattson looked sick, as well. Occassionally, when Mattson would come off he would go to the end of the bench with a water bottle and take his helmet off and just sit there like he was trying to cool off. He wasn't the same as I had seen him earlier and he didn't look like his usual explosive self. As for Lee, he seemed to take penalties because he wasn't moving his feet and he also got pushed around more than he ever has, he also looked a little tentative to get into physical battles and that is definitely not his style. I don't think I have ever seen someone take him off his feet with a check and AHA did it for sure once and I think twice and they don't hit nearly as hard as some of the teams Edina has played earlier. Don't get me wrong, Lee still played very well, just his game and especially his physical prescense weren't quite the same as I had seen them earlier.
First of all, have you ever seen Lee get knocked off his feet when he decides to drive toward the net with the puck? He was still easily the strongest player on the ice, but he didn't take on players like he usually does. He still played well. How come you get so upset whenever I say anything about Lee, but if I say something not flattering about another player you never seem to challenge it. It seems you have a connection to Lee. Two hooking penalties, one when Edina was in on a five on three. Both lazy penalties that come from playing with your stick more than your feet. This was all speculation, but Lee didn't look as strong as usual and didn't throw his body around like he usually does. He might not have been sick, but he wasn't the same player I have seen for most of the year.hornetsnest wrote:33, you game replays are always worth the price of admission. Congrats to Michael Sit whose 2 goal burst late in the second period opened things up for the Hornets. Ankeny was also very solid in the first period on a number of good scoring opps for AHA. Mattson had a tough task yesterday with Haeg out. He finishes his HS career well over 200 points and solid hockey future ahead. Best of Luck Danny, a great kid as well.
Look forward to more SNL reporting from 33 on Thursday evening! 33
Classy? try respecting and supporting the efforts of all the players on the Hornets, and fathom this 33, your opponents as well. Mattsons career will far exceed your hockey dreamland. I'll be sure to pass on these notes to Mr. Lee on Thursday. In fact introduce yourself, I am sure he would get a good chuckle...scoreboard33 wrote:First of all, have you ever seen Lee get knocked off his feet when he decides to drive toward the net with the puck? If you saw Danny Mattson doing what I described, you'd think he was sick, also. He was kelled over on the bench with his helmet off sitting behind the defensemen spraying water all over, not bothering to watch the play for a good 2 minutes.
Thanks for the post, Mr. Lee, definately classy.
I don't see how anything I said detracts from Mattson's or Lee's career. Both put up numbers that speak for themselves, are going to great college programs and will probably get drafted fairly high in the NHL draft. I don't think my opinion of there play in one game is disrespectful, its what I think.hornetsnest wrote:Classy? try respecting and supporting the efforts of all the players on the Hornets, and fathom this 33, your opponents as well.
