I know you guys are doing all AA schools, but STA will be a top 5 team this coming season, regardless of classes.

you're right deacon, with a bunch of section 1 players from one school.

Don't underestimate AV. They probably won't start in the top 15, but I'd look out for them this year.

If I had to rank the sections by strength right now, it'd be a toss-up between 3 and 5 for third-best (behind 6 and 2, in that order).

Karl is correct AV will be good. I expect them to be pretty tough the next 3 seasons. Assuming Woodbury did not lose hockey players to the new school they will be very good also. Along with CDH you are looking at 3 formidable clubs in the section this season. Not as deep as other sections but 3 very good teams.

Agreed. And the Mustangs will be a top 3 team in either class!

What about Hill Murray? I just haven't been overly impressed with their individual players but they seem to be achieving success. Maybe I'm missing it. Agree AV will be strong and I bet Jefferson may surprise many and be a contender if their players stick around for senior year.

No, I think section 4 with Hill, White Bear, Stillwater, and Tartan is the third best, with 5,3,7 after them in that order.

I'll buy Hill, but not the other three. Stillwater and Tartan are good teams, but I wouldn't rank either of them as high as the second-best team in 3AA or 5AA. And, out of curiosity, why are you putting WBL so high? I was under the impression that this coming year will be a down year.

The tier system was a good idea Karl!

My obvious bias aside, I think the White Bear team is still up in the air, and it's one of those things that is very hard to project at this point.

I hope, for my own sake, that WBL does as well as many of you (suprisingly!) predict!

It's interesting to see all the good predictions for Hopkins. Who do they have aside from their goalie?

Also: aren't their lower youth levels really low on numbers? I know that question pertains to the youth hockey forum, but if their youth system has low numbers, that doesn't bode well for future success of the HS team.

Hopkins shouldn't have gotten the attention it got last year. It was rewarded for what we'll call the "Travis Boyd effect" yes he put up some numbers but the team finished 4 games over .500 last year and was 1 nad done in the playoffs. Hockey is a team game and a team should be rated based on that fact, not over hyped due to one player. Kids getting credit for scoring a ton of points vs weak competition is getting old.

39 pts in below average squads such as Irondale, North Metro, NSP, Rogers, Virginia, Bloom Kennedy, Shakopee, St Louis Park, Richfield, Buffalo and Armstrong

12 pts, 5 on the PP in games vs Rosemount, Eagan, SSP, Tonka, Edina, Wayzata and EP

and rosemount was not too good last year

I don't know about you but 12 points in 7 games against that competition dosn't seem like something to complain about and I don't know how you can say Virginia was a below average team when they seemed to have a very strong season. Also Richfield, NSP, Rogers and St. Louis Park were not walks in the park for Hopkins and Boyd got points to keep his team in those games. But I do agree Hopkins was way overrated and I belive they will have a very difficult season this year.

Hill Murray had a very good recruiting season and should field a strong team.

Yes. Many kids have decided they wanted to play for a winning team and Lechner will gladly welcome them on board.

Gee, I thought kids went their for the schooling. Or was it the extra curricular activities!

Don't forget Breck. The team that won the Class A title only lost two seniors (Rehkamp and Hurd). In recent STP action they beat Blaine 4-1 and the Bengals had Bjugstad, Scheid, Larson and other gunners plus Danny Harper in net. They'll have three guys get some good seasoning in the Elite League this Fall: forwards Tyson Fulton and Mike Morin and goaltender John Russell. Forward Riley Borer is an Elite League alternate. Good team speed, decent defense and strong goaltending.
