I cant believe the totino grace program!!!!!!What has happened to them they were going to be a deep senior team and they forced one senior forward to quit . and cut three others two were very involved in the team last year and the other was on the team the entire year.. For their coach to cut these kids for what he obviosly doesnt need offense.. This is completely insane they are going to be terrible now this year. even when the football players come back there will only be 2 senior forwards now and a couple juniors who didnt do much at all alst year but played on the same line as deslile. The only problem with totino grace now is thier coach!!!!!!!!!!! I apologize to the seniors on this team as he is not playing to win this year he is building the team for the future...

You know I really think there is a problem at totino grace after the last few years kids are making that team who have no business seeing the ice. WHY??I know a little about highschool hockey but this is supposed to be a bigtime hockey school and they have kids playing defense who have no business on the team they hav forwards the last couple years who again have no business on the team..they had a center last year who was a senior who was awful and he was on the team as junior and a sophmore he played second line all year every game lots of ice time and had two goals,,I dont understand?????is it because they are straight a students?? as a coach of team in the district I am really confused by the actions of Mark Loahr and again I apologize to the kids who are seniors and want to win. This team is not going to be very good!

Dude,

Sorry you got cut. At some point in time, our hockey as we know it comes to an end. May be after college, may be after a senior year in high school, may be before that senior year.

Only so many can play. Being bitter is natural. If you love the game, look at what other opportunities are out there for you and do it.

Enjoy playing junior gold. You may have much more fun there (yeah, the chicks at school don't dig JG as much as being Varsity....but ignore that and just have fun playing the game).

High school coaches hate this time of the year. They know that they are going to 'hurt' some kids. They know that they may be ending the 'dream' for some kids. Most do not take this lightly and truly feel terrible.

Loahr only keeps seniors that he feels are good enough to play varsity all year....I'm sure if he felt those seniors could contribute to the varsity team, he would've kept them. Obviously he doesn't, which is why he cut them. It's not too hard to figure out.

For a team that's very bad they did fairly well at Blake today.

TG 1 Woodbury 0
TG 1 STA 2
TG 3 Delano 0

sure they are scrimmages but it's not like they're getting murdered. And they are still missing all of about 8 football players that would be on the team.

I heard that some of these senior forwards were told after tryouts by someone that they were going to get cut before tryouts even started?! What a great coaching staff at TG. Head Coach of TG is terrible and doesnt deserve to be coaching at TG any longer. Incidents like this make TG hockey look bad and disturbing to be apart of. ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE!!!!!!

For all the senior players that got cut. Keep your heads up and dont worry about being cut because you know your better that. A lot of people feel sorry and are upset. Best of luck to these seniors!!

Were you (or your son) one of them? It's only natural to harbor bitter feelings after being told by your coach that you are cut...but as time goes by, you'll get over it, trust me.

Coach Loahr has 400+ wins, he is a very good coach. More often than not, he has been accused of being too soft on his upperclassmen. I've never heard the type of criticism you are leveling at him.

I can't speak for him (or any coach), but it wouldn't be a surprise that a coaching staff would know who some of the cuts would be before the tryouts begin. Hell, they've been watching these kids for years and know where they stack up. Without knowing these seniors, my bet is that, as juniors, they shuffled back and forth between JV and Varsity quite a bit last season and the TG policy is that seniors who can't stick with the Varsity team the whole season are generally cut.

TG has a pretty good junior class and he is only keeping the players that he feels gives the program the best chance at success.

My only beef with that program is that they (and all private schools) should be playing at the AA level in the post season.

Sad as it may be fellows, there is a war on. Your parents have worked there butts off to put you in a private school. Even though the coach is old, way past his time and never played a game of hockey in his life, he is THE COACH. Next to god, he is the greatest thing in your little lives. Got cut?? boo hoo for you. Get over it. Wanna prove how tough you are ? Join the army. Go to the middle east and be a real hero. Crap, there are little girls tougher than you that would put you down so fast, you would be begging to be back here with your hurt feelings.
Many know THE COACH was beat up by the big boys in school when he was a little girl at school, and has real unsecurity.

I nominate this for "The Worst Post of the Year Award".

tg did play well in these scrimmages, defense looked pretty solid, goaltending was good. but offense ahd no real pressure. They dont look good enough to compete with top teams. they had no real pressure on the offensive zone, and like I said previously look to be rebuilding and trying to train in sophs and juniors at forward who are not ready. Colpitts looked solid, hockert looked good, other than that noone really hit anyone either.
