Both teams are pretty evenly matched. Burnsville has some very skilled players, and maybe the best coaching around. They are also FAST. Edina has their own skills, but backs it up with tough, physical play. Made for an entertaining game.

The incident at the end of the game was pathetic though. Surprised no one here is talking about it.........interesting.

OK, here goes. I fully expect to be flamed, ridiculed, and possibly egged while walking to my car:

At the end of the game, at the buzzer, an Edina player ran a Burnsville player from behind - into the boards. A Burnsville teammate who came to his fallen comrades help, was punched for his efforts. Then the benches cleared.........it was mayhem, on the ice and in the stands.

I have no dog in this fight (no pun intended) - I just like to go to hockey games, and D6 is usually my first choice because of location. I honestly could not believe what I saw, and what I heard in the stands.

IF you saw it differently, please chime in. By all means!!!

Re HH's account: The only thing I will address is the "benches cleared" part. FYI, I was there.

All players from the two teams' benches went directly toward the middle of the ice anticipating the handshake lineup.

Wow - lack of discipline or just heat of the moment teenage stuff? Edina does have a new coach this year right? Curious to hear if they bench the kid that started it if the info is accurate. Have to nip that behavior in the butt immediately! Maybe Bantams should consider shaking hands before the game like Jr. Gold?

Did not see it, but I believe it. When I played bantam a, our home refs ended not less than 3 games, and possibly closer to 6 early. The games got too rough. I want to ask though, was it really that messy? Generally in youth hockey these days the thing gets stopped before anything big happens.

1 Duluth East - Better than all the rest
2 Woodbury - Very solid team
3 Minnetonka - they have show to be beatable in the last few weeks
4 Edina - i know they don't always look sharp but i can't deny the talent
5 Grand Rapids - very good northern team
6 Eagan - Playing with their size really well right now
7 Jefferson - another team playing outstanding hockey
8 Maple Grove - wins big showdown with the trojan
9 Lakeville South - ever improving
10 Apple Valley -
11 Burnsville -
12 Wayzata - great D needs better O to compete for title

13 Roseau -
14 Eden Prairie -
15 Blaine - has all but wrapped up D10 and is the only team for sure in Regions
16 Mounds View - good team, will goaltending hold up
16 Rochester - getting better, needs to in order to challenge in last season in d8
17 Centennial - I can not pass on a team that has improved as much as they have, still a long way to the top though
18 East Grand Forks - another solid northern team
19 Cloquet, can score... can they keep the best teams off the score board
20 ???????? not sure? any suggestions?

On the outside looking in - (in no particular order)

St. Cloud, Prior Lake, Cottage Grove, Moorhead, NSP, Stillwater, WBL, Chaska, Elk River, Andover

CNF...You might want to consider Coon Rapids On the outside looking in. Recently, they beat Elk River 4-0, tied Centennial 1-1, Lost to Andover in OT and beat St. Cloud earlier in the year. From what I have seen lately this is not the same team that I saw earlier in the season

This game got rough in the last few minutes - but nothing to stop the game over. I talked to a few people yesterday that I consider "in the know". They encouraged me to not talk about this on a public forum, and assured me that things were being handled. So.........case closed, over and out.......I guess.

Since when do teams shake hands after D6 league games?

Kind of like the White Bear High School girls Edina has discipline problems and have made a name for themselves. It's tough to earn respect back once lost. Last season lack of fair play points cost the Bantam As the D6 title and top seed in the D6 playoffs.

They were in the box a lot last year and it did cost them. Hopefully they can figure it out this year.

Well things didn't get easier after seeing scores from this weekend that is for sure.

Cetennial pulled an upset and was the MN team compeating for the ship vs Thunderbay. We got our wish for a Woodbury vs East game it was just for 3rd place.

District regular season play is wrapping up and tourney brackets are getting set. The playoffs start in 2 weeks, D6, D8 and D10 should be fun as all three have some dangerous teams playing well. Look for upsets as Eagan, Jefferson and Centennial are all playing the best hockey I have seen from them at the right time of the year. Good luck boys. Not sure there are a lot of games this week. Let me know what is happening so we can get some good scores!!

1 Woodbury - although they lost to centennial, they responded by taking down the hounds
2 Duluth East - looked a little rough this weekend but still one of the best
3 Minnetonka - responds to loss to Jefferson with quality wins in D6
4 Edina - solid team will be factor in two weeks
5 Eagan - Battling in D8 with Woodbury and Lakeville South
6 Maple Grove -
7 Jefferson - Still playing very good at right time
8 Grand Rapids - only 2-1 over hopkins
9 Lakeville South -
10 Burnsville - still winning in d6
11 Wayzata -
12 Apple Valley - lost to Edina

13 Blaine - SPeed Kills and they have it
14 Centennial - Beat WBL and Woodbury in tourney, lost Championship in Shootout
15 Roseau - loss to east grand
16 East Grand Forks - comeback victory vs Roseau
16 Rochester - Has tough road in D8
17 Eden Prairie - hanging on, in d6 did not play well in WBL
18 Mounds View - tied WBL
19 Cloquet -
20 Prior Lake - can pull an upset in the d6 tourney

Although Rochester plays a tough schedule, they are 12 games below .500, and of their 10 wins none look impressive enough to warrant a spot in the top 20. Stillwater, White Bear, Lakeville North have been more impressive. Also, Cloquet just beat Burnsville I am told (6 -4 )this past weekend. All these teams should be ahead of Rochechester. IMHO [/quote]

I would put Andover above Rochester. They lost to River Heights last week 2-1. The rest looks good
