Good for you. But who said I don't have any respect for Roseau? Sure I think they tend to be overrated somewhat but that doesn't mean I don't have respect for their program. For a tiny school like them to even be ranked in AA is pretty impressive to me. With the easy schedule they play, its very hard to determine where they actually belong in the rankings; I tend to place them lower than most people. I do have respect for Roseau though.

Have fun watching your mediocre Wildcats not live up to your unrealistically high expectations in the next few years!

Moving on to other topics; I am surprised to see the defending state champion Eden Prairie Eagles lower than anyone who's lost a game. Their one loss is their most recent game, away and by 2 to the team last year many said was the best team in state. I'd put them #2 right behind Tonka (and would've had them ahead until their loss).

I totally agree, you just do not win in Braemar especially if you are EP. Historically that would bear out as well for EP when traveling to Breamar. Put these 2 on a different sheet of ice and see what occurs. EP plummets on what should be an expected loss, maybe it is the 5-3 margin of victory (do not know)? With everyone gunning for the reigning champ you have to bring it every night. Back to the rankings boys.

As I've said before, none of my comments are meant to be disrespectful in anyway, simply giving my opinion and hoping to stir up discussion, as I have done. That being said, I will respond to your post:

1. We have a differing of opinion on what to consider and what not. When you have played 5 games, I would consider one of your wins (20% of the schedule thus far) to be very good. Yes, if you've played a full season and have one big win, maybe a fluke, but if you've played a very small part of your season, you only have so many games to go by.

2. I don't know much about the math of PS2, but I do know it uses last season's rank in the beginning of the season.

3. Not to say you're wrong for giving ranking to a team for history, but pointing out other ranking systems who do as well doesn't make it right.

I'm glad someone who can be objective and impartial is putting together these rankings.

I've seen both teams play and if you really think Eagan is better than Jefferson you are either an Eagan parent or fan. There's a difference between being better overall and playing better on that particular night.

That's why they play the games though...beat Jefferson again and you will get your high ranking.

I am neither. Haven't seen either play, just base my opinions based on the numbers. That's all. But it's good to hear from someone who has seen both play.

Any thoughts on the upcoming Gold division for Schwan's cup?

Your point was my saying where I'd rank Eagan AFTER someone had said no one said they should be top ten, not me being a yahoo for being confused why Jefferson is the ONLY team in the top 15 ranked ahead of a team they lost to and why Eagan is the ONLY team with a win over a top 15 team not in the top 15. If it were me, I'd probably have Eagan right below CDH and Jefferson somewhere in the 10-15 range. So no, I wouldn't have Eagan as a top 3 team or anything, probably 9 or 10.

Essentially what HSHW was saying is that Jefferson is only ranked high because of past history and Eagan should be ranked higher. You see, most people that do these rankings see things for what they really are and try not to read too much into unforeseen outcomes. Are you really gonna rank Eagan higher than any of the teams listed in the top 15? Really? Being in the top 15 for a week means that much to you? I would rather Eagan accept and loathe their ranking for what it is and use it as motivation - I'm sure most of the players and coaches would too.

You like to point out this seasons results with regards to Eagan but you want to ignore that fact with Jefferson. They have dismantled everybody but Eagan. They aren't ranked where they are because of past history. Your opinion on this topic belongs in a toilet and let's be thankful you aren't in charge of rankings.

You have to. It's impossible to rank teams this early in the season without looking at what they return and what they lost. Now that teams have played almost 10 games, obviously it's more important to look at results, too. I don't think an upset this early in the year is important at all.

Another thing you have to do is look beyond the score of the game. I'm sure you read about all the top teams on the forum(s), but look at the box scores to get the best info on how good a team actually is. After all, UMD lost to Michigan Tech 3-2 this year, but the shots were 50-18 or something like that.

Well unfortunatly it's not looking any better for my Eagles at the moment. They beat Burnsville 3-2 in OT on tuesday and Tonka is coming up. We better get it together fast or else...

Since when does beating Armstrong mean you have very good team? Armstrong is terrible, it's expected anyone decent will beat them. Until Eagan can post another win over an elite team, I'm leaving them where they are now.

And Edina should be #1 they crushed SLP 17-0! Running time the whole 3rd! Jefferson should be top 2 they crushed Eastview 11-1!!! Give me a break. A win like that doesn't show too much, be happy that Eagan is being given top 20 rank.
