Is it just me or does the AV Coach remind you of Chris Farley?

0-0, first intermission. Decent game thus far, a bit sloppy both ways.

1-0 Valley thru 2 periods. Valley looked sharp in the 2nd. Valley needs to stay disciplined to hold on. They are a pretty good 2 way group. Blaine can score in buckets so getting the first was big. Blaine starting to look a bit frustrated. Aus even complaining about not getting more PP's called for his squad. Long way to go, especially with Blaine's skill, but as I said in previous posts-the upset could happen. Should be a great third. Go Eagles!

Gretz was stellar, AV shut down Tufte and Bjustand, and they capitalized on scoring chances. Congrats to AV! Great upset. This messes up my predictions a bit but this is why i love the state tournament! Great representation out of Lake and 3AA.

Apple Valley played a great game, they really wore out Blaine's top two lines. I was very impressed with Hudson Fasching, one of the most composed freshman i've seen at the state tournament. Is Fasching an old Freshman or did he move up a year early from Bantams?

i thought 3AA was the second weakest section

"I would argue that Michaelson and Fasching are better players than anyone on the Blaine roster other than Bjugstad"
oh would you?
Michealson 18 Goals, 16 Assists, 34 pts
Fasching 23 Goals, 17 Assists, 40 pts
Besides bjugstad Blaine has:
Brodzinski 22 Goals, 26 Assists, 48 pts
Scheid 23 Goals, 29 Assists, 52 pts
Tufte 20 Goals, 17 Assists, 37 pts
...maybe a few years down the road AV will be decent, but they are one and done this year. Blaine's just straight up deeper than AV. The eagles will also have trouble dealing with the speed of the first two lines of Blaine, which means a lot of penalties will occur. Blaines PP is sittin at 42%
Good thing they play the game on the ice rather than on paper. Nice stats though. Should provide nice bedtime reading tomorrow night. You know, while Valley plays in the semi's...
That said, hats off to Blaine, they played hard, sometimes you just get beat. Still, great season, great team. Good luck tomorrow, beat Roseau.

He only played one year of Bantams, very skilled player.

He is young.
I believe that he moved up to Bantams early as well. Someone can correct me of I'm wrong but age wise this year should have been his first year Bantams.

This is great!!! Listening to the sports casters on Minnesota Hockey Network they would go crazy when Bjugstad had the puck. All they were saying was how Apple Valley had better watch it or Blaine would capitalize. Is it me or do you have to be a Gopher recruit to get the respect some of these other guys deserve. Oh and I do like Bjugstad he will be a heck of a pro player one day.

Maybe my friend was right, if Bjugstad doesn't score Blaine loses. Without Bjugstad this season Blaine would not have gotten thru regions

AV was the better TEAM today and their goalie played well - congrats and good luck the rest of the tournament. Blaine beat themselves and played too much as individuals and needed someone else to step up with Bjugstad being double and triple teamed. AV has some good young talent and played with a lot of composure - impressive.

WOW! I think Faschings accomplishments during what should've been his first year of bantams might be more impressive than that of Jordan Schroeder's 8th grade season at STA. In terms of age during their first year of varsity hockey the two are very close, although it sounds more impressive Schroeder was an 8th grader. Both were the leading scorers on their teams that went to state. Fasching played AA while Schroeder played A, regardless Fasching has a very bright future.

Very fun game to watch; Aaron Gretz and the unheralded AV defensemen deserve a lot of credi for shutting down all those talented forwards. Bjugstad had his chances and probably spent all of 2 minutes off the ice in the 3rd. Great team play and some surprising contributions fron the lower lines won AV this game. Michaelson and Fasching looked like they were trying to be a bit too cute at times, but they sure are the real deal. Props to the Eagles on a big win and helping out my bracket!
