There's no AUTOMATIC into the Elite 1. They send out invites to the players that have the skills to play. The talented players from southern Minnesota need to play in the metro area in the summer hockey to showcase there talents. That's how they get noticed. You go were the scouts are , there not always going to come to you. Parents need to get there kids into the system at a younger age. Many of the kids my Son played with on special teams in the Metro area are now playing D-1 and NHL hockey.

EXAMPLE. = When my kid played youth hockey in Albert Lea as a Squirt and PeeWee , I would take him up to the Metro area to play tougher players. He then wanted to move and live with his Mom in the Metro area to play. I knew this would be good for his hockey. He then played JR's and then signed with OHIO STATE.
He even played for a weaker metro Class AA high school team, Farmington. So you don't always have to be on a POWER HOUSE team in the Metro area to get noticed.
So don't give me the SOB story that kids from the South ,East or West can't get noticed.

PS. GOOD LUCK , Jake.

Benilde DOES NOT need to recruit. The players are coming to them. It's been interesting to read the posts from the summer and how far off some off them have been concerning the Benilde team this year. O'Borsky better then Besse? This season means NOTHING to Benilde? Every season means something and every season the goal is to play at the X come March. :!:

Damn, I've been had. You two have gotten to me. BSM is hanging out at Bantam and Pee Wee hockey games enticing the youngsters with cars, private dorm rooms and hot women. Not to mention the cash payments to the mom's and dad's.

Talk about taking recruiting to the extreme.

Empire, those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones . . . Several players from Elk River's 2001 championship team lived in the Anoka High School attendance area of the Links of Northfork neighborhood. Recruit, recruit, recruit. The difference between the Red Knights recruiting and the Elks recruiting is the BSM kids still have to pay tuition. Jake's dad is a successful West Point alum. I sincerely doubt he qualifies for financial aid at BSM.

I am not throwing stones. Never once did I say they recruited. I was merely summarizing what I had read throughout the thread.

If they recruit, so be it. If they don't, good for them too.

ER got good players to come to them much like Benilde. Success is like honey, attracts more and more.
