God....that's just ugly. Just ugly. I guess since the Governors made short work of Como this should have been expected. Sheesh...just ugly.

Their youth program has already merged with the Govies:coach95 wrote:who cares, it is sections and you play to win. como needs to either merge with someone or play jv
No big celebrations of goals. They were quite subdued even after Guentzel scored the first goal. He just skated back to the bench and sat down.Puckguy19 wrote:At some point, sportsmanship is about more than goals. Did Hill have extended celebrations after goals? Were there penalties or non-calls that showed a lack of class? Was the atmosphere at the rink crazed? I am guessing that the answer to each of the questions is ~ no.
No one likes the lopsided match-ups, much less players and coaches. But you play the cards you are dealt, and learn from the experience. I've played in some of these games, won some and lost some, and there was nothing worse than being toyed with. I'd rather have an opponent go hard to the net, than play keep away, turn their sticks over, or pass up open opportunities.
My preparation for a game has to be accounted for, also. If I have a preconceived notion of what the end result will be, then maybe its on me to make the call to forfeit the game. Once I'm on the playing field ~ Game On!
Eventually it will be "St. Paul". Minneapolis is already united.GreekChurch wrote:This is nothing new, 30 years ago Hill played in the city conference. They scored 20,19,15,15, and 15 vs Humboldt, Central and Highland. They only beat Como 8 -1 that year, and lost to North St. Paul 2 -1 in the region finals. There are always going to be teams down, and or out. It's the ever changing landscape of Minnesota hockey. Hill has always been there, and will be for awhile. I see back in 81 they only beat Harding 5 -4 in ot. Harding hasn't had a hockey team for quite some time, but i know one thing, you don't want to play them in Badminton.
Night Train wrote:That would be up to Johnson and Como ADs and the families. It is time for the high school league to combine Como with Johnson as they are in youth hockey.
What about the St. Paul Saints and Highland? How's their future?[/quote
Seeing as Johnson just got out of the co-op with Harding so that they could play class A, I doubt they would want to co-op again and have to play AA
Minnetonka? They had one good year...iseepalms wrote:Does it really matter where you put most teams the private schools will win. Are you nuts? Minnetonka comes out of the toughest conf and section in HS Hockey and consistently puts great teams on the ice. Not only do they develop the kids to roster a great varsity team year after year, they roster the best JV team, best JR Gold A team, best U16 team and how many of their kids go to Benildes, Breck, Holy Family, ect, ect....?EHSHack wrote:Minnetonka? Minnetonka is the best hockey association in the state hands down.
I can think of a number of teams that consistently are better than 'Tonka. ER, EP, Edina, Burnsville all come to mind. Heck, even Moorhead, Roseau, Warroad and Duluth East.WB6162 wrote:Are you nuts? Maybe. But not that gawdawful green striped sweater.formerlybackofnet wrote:Lechtner does have class.
I would agree except I have a clue. Look at the teams that are stocked with players from Minnetonka. It's not even close. Duluth East? Oh, you have a clue, do you? If we're basing our observations on HISTORY, Minnetonka hardly lives up to the aforementioned organizations - from top to bottom, youth until high school.WB6162 wrote:I would agree except I have a clue. Como lost a lot from last year and hill is that much better. That merger has been talked about for a while. As a former player for Johnson and considering the rivalry between the two teams, I'm not sure how well that would go over. Also Johnson played well against a tough conference this year. The tri-metro had three of the better teams in state and they for the most part (other than Breck) consistently competed with them. Just because a team went 12 and 12 in single A doesn't mean they are struggling.iseepalms wrote:It is time for the high school league to combine Como with Johnson as they are in youth hockey. Minnesota High school league just looks at the number of kids in the school not how many play each sport. In the inter city there are some problems with numbers in school deciding what level you should play in. I noticed that Johnson ended up with 12 wins and 12 losses in class "A" and they can't compete with many of the private schools. The Minnesota high school league needs to take their blinders off. Remember when people use to live in the inter-city, things have changed.
Yeah, all things considered that's not that bad of a record. Some of those losses could've been wins, too, they were so close and from poor goaltending.iz1016 wrote:Como lost a lot from last year and hill is that much better. Yeah, they do lose about 6 or 7 seniors this year. I don't thinks it's that bleak for these teams although if you want to be competitive you have to adjust. I would hate to see Johnson and Como combine but if it keeps hockey in the twin cities alive its good enough.Govie wrote:Yeah, all things considered that's not that bad of a record. Unfortunately I think it's on life support, but I may be wrong. Either way, try to support the club through the next few years or decade to see where it leads. If by magic a core with a couple D-I prospects and an excellent goalie could take them to the Dance. As we know Moose only plays a couple lines anyway, but you can't really blame him.iz1016 wrote:Yeah, they do lose about 6 or 7 seniors this year. Wow, Minnetonka? Not even in the discussion for best program. Not even on the radar.WB6162 wrote:Are you nuts?
