Just wondering, what coaches in the state tournament this year are teachers? How about other top publics (is Curt Giles teaching)? Fighting or throwing a punch should be a 3 game minimum suspension.

Mike Randolph Math teacher???? east guys correct me if im wrong, just heard it from somebody that he was a middle school math teacher

I like 16 teams at State. We already have that. Only now we have two tournements. Let's have a 16 team tournement, only based on 16 sections. I would also be cool with 8 section champs and 8 at large ins....Oldtimehockeyguy23 wrote:okay I HAVE A SOLUTION.
Do the thing exactly like NCAA hockey. 16 teams in the tourny. Teams are ranked and selected by a committee by the MSHSL. Teams that are not in the top 16 in the rankings have a chance to make the tourny by winning their section. Pretty sure this system works well in college hockey. you have a equal representation of every section, and have the top teams.. Have the first round not at the Xcel to get down to 8. then 8 team tourny at the Xcel like normal. Could also go to a frozen four format as well. But the bottom line is they should have 16 teams in the tourny
Also.... 8 Min OT's during regular season, but instead of ties.. shootouts and shootouts losses. still counts as a tie like in the NHL but exciting because of the 3-man shootout. WHO WOULDN'T LOVE THAT?
FSN should broadcast games again too.

I actually am likely in a minority, but do enjoy watching high school hockey more than the NHL or college. It seems like the purtiy of the game is at a much higher level in high school. So yes, televise more HS games.
I am not a fan of shootouts. Possibly entertaining, but, really??? I always thought it ridiculous that a game should be decided in such a controlled situation. I would be more in favor of no ties with unlimited OT's. Maybe even dropping players after a few to go 4 on 4 and 3 on 3... now that is entertaining hockey.
Agreed - some smaller schools have trouble finding qualified coaches, much less qualified coaches who are teachers. As long as the coach has the proper credentials for coaching high school, so be it. But "dad" coaches should be held to a minimum, if at all allowed, at the high school level. Too many politics involved with this scenario.
