EP will not be as good as last year
Edina will be on Fire (players)
Waconia- Couple new players-Entire 2010-2011 team coming back with the exception of a couple players
Lakeville teams should also be on Fire (players)
Maple Grove will have a good team
STMA should have a good team
Wayzata- If they split A teams should be good- no split =great team

If I'm not mistaken that EP team won Fargo 2 years ago.

EP did win 2 years ago in Fargo. But how the core players developed since then, will determine how far they get.
But it can't hurt to have 2 returning goalies back, the bigger one probably in the discussion involving "who are the top 4-5 PW goalies in the state?" Those two alone will win them many games.
I don't see them being worse. I'm just glad we don't have a D6 schedule.

All these teams except Lakeville are in the Velocity tournament this weekend, that should shed some light

Went to Velocity tourney out of curiosity, and I hate to say I was right, "But I was right!" Big EP goalie holds Wayzata to 7 or 8 goals in 3 on 3, and EP cruises 16-8. But they have great balance, skill/speed/size.
Next game was good too, Maple Grove over Stillwater 21-16. Quick start by MG, and then pretty even. Both teams very good. Darn good.
And then Centennial beat Chan/Chaska 14-9. Snoozer.

Both Lakeville teams are in the Apple Ford 4v4 tourney this weekend with Rosemount, Burnsville, Farmington and other teams.

Saw both Lakeville teams very impressive with Fire additions. They should play each other for the ship

Elk River was the best team I've seen at the Velocity tournament. Not far behind was Maple Grove. These two teams were in the same bracket. I believe ER beat MG by 12 in head to head (surprised me). MG has a couple of players that look like they would be good at the bantam level. Elk River looked like an experienced 3 on 3 machine. They (ER) were in a class by themselves. Edina should be the top team to come out of the other bracket. As we all know, 3 on 3 really shows off the players skills but it's a pretty different game on the big ice.

Watched the Velocity games and with out question there are some very talented skaters in Peewee's this year. Elk Rivir very solid as with Edina and EP. Wayzata going with two A teams even balance will struggle other than a handfull of kids they lack the skill to be competative. Must be board members kids.

How does the level of competiton in the Ford 4v4 compare to Velosity's 3 on 3 tourney?
History has shown Velocity teams that finish top 4 in the tournament from Bantam & Pee Wee's typically have been the top teams in districts, regions & state.
Oh and can we please stop with the Fire player references?

Why do you assume the Fire additions are now the best players on the team? I have seen plenty of Fire players who are not even close to the top players within their association. Just because you played on the FIRE doesn't mean you are a TOP player, too me it means you were so arrogant to believe your kid was too good for association hockey and you were willing to waste money and time traveling all over the country to play the majority of your games vs average at best competition.

Maybe they played for the Fire for the experience and the fun of competition from other parts of North America. I have spoken to people on that team, parents and kids, and they say they wouldn't trade those two seasons for the world. Yes, they had some cupcake games but the tourneys they were in offered great competition. Why is it arrogant to search for other/different opportunities? I don't get it, you must stay within your association or others consider you arrogant, too good, and a traitor. Open the padlocks and let those who want to go out in the world do so. Who, cares--it is hockey, they are kids, they had fun and now it is gone. That sucks for them and for anyone that would like to try. There is a lot of great hockey out there, go take a look. Believe it or not, our cracker box here in Minni, in which all our kids have been jailed, has a lot of room for improvement. Also, I would have to say that the Fire players would most likely be close to the best on their association teams. If they are not even close, as you say, there are some pretty dang good players and teams out there.

The 4v4 does not really compare to the 3v3 because it is a full sheet of ice IMO. I also noticed plenty of kids from different associations playing for different teams, I don't believe this happens as much at velocity. As far as the Fire kids go I just said they were nice additions, not the top players.

Lakeville South was all South kids, Lakeville North all North kids, Burnsville all bv kids but one, Farmington had 8 farmington kids and 3 non farm kids, New Prague was all NP kids, Rosemount was a mix bag.

NP was also a mix bag so 33% of the teams in the field were truly from where they said. Not sayin just sayin.

Like I said earlier, I believe ER is the team to beat in A PeeWee hockey.
There will be about 10 other teams to battle for a right to plays the ELKS in the State Tourney Final in Alexandria. EP, STMA, Lakeville South, Stillwater, Edina, MG, Centennial, Wayzata, Woodbury, etc. will have to catch up to beat the ELKS when it's all said and done in my opinion. The real question is, which team has the most depth?

I tended to agree with this sentiment, but all 5 Fire players who tried out made PWA in Edina.

I guess we will just have to see how the season plays out.
The only thing we know right now is everyone within those associations are just tickled pink to have them back along with their parents.

most of them first years, also. All of them no brainers. I have no affiliation or fondness for AAA hockey but the talent of the kids from the Fire was obvious.

Edina kids on the fire? I thought the fire were for those poor kids in crappy associations. Guess that rationalization is crap,

I always found the argument that AAA/Tier I hockey would help the small associations who couldn't field an A team ( bodangles ) rather suspicious or doubtful. Sure there is always a case where the small association player makes a AAA/Tier I team but odds are against them ... then what more and more teams until they make a team ? I'm not against it but I don't think its guaranteed to help address the problems of a small associations in MN.

Of course, if all of the posts on here are to be believed the Fire must have rostered about 50 kids on each team with the numbers of kids returning to various associations...

If you take into account the 97, 99 and 00 fire i guess you would be about correct in your assumption of 50 plus rostered players.
